“Sad to see such a beautiful place lacking care.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

My family and I went to see the Japanese Gardens, and found them to be beautiful. However, we were meeting out of state relatives for a picnic, and there is no food or drink allowed there. Having loved the duck pond area on previous visits, I took them there only to be mortified. The pond was putrid, the only bench near the pond was broken and the entire park, save for the Japanese Gardens needed some TLC.

I'm hoping our next trip will see a drastic improvement.

“Beautiful venue.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

The gardens, greenhouse and pond with ducks and swans are very inviting. The grandkids love the play area and walking along the paths especially in autumn with the fallen leaves.

“Amazing gardens”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

This park features so many beautiful varieties of plants and landscapes. The Friends of Manito have done a great job keeping the place groomed and clean. Each garden offers different eye candy of color and fragrances. All the gardens are well worth seeing. They also offer amazing plant sales.

“Late Summer Stunner!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

Manito is the only formal park to speak of in Spokane. It has vast lawns, a couple areas, a large duck pond (that is always under renovation it seems), a formal rose garden called "Rose Hill," a glorious annual garden that has fountains where locals come for formal pictures, Year round formal greenhouse, a perennial garden, and lastly a Japanese garden. Sounds big, but is small enough to see it all in half a day. Japanese garden is best in spring, rest of gardens are best mid to late summer. Go to the greenhouse anytime, but my favorite is in the winter when you can soak up some warm humid air and see palm trees, orchids, cactuses along with seasonal plants such as poinsettias.
