“Historical beauty with great service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2013

My family of 6 stayed Christmas Eve & checked out on Christmas. The hotel's decorations were stunning as was the historical detail in the building. It was idyllic, clean, & family friendly. They were very accommodating having a crib already in the room, helped pack up presents, & smiles were everywhere even though the staff was working on Christmas. The restaurant had a kids menu & the staff incredibly friendly & helpful. I was in awe of the beauty of the building & kind service of the staff.

The historic Davenport has been restored to world class elegance in the public rooms. Restaurant service is smooth and efficient with regional menus and excellent food. (Exception: dry/ tasteless pastries at breakfast.) Rooms are fitted with substantial furniture, solid (comfortable) beds, sumptuous bathrooms with lush towels and top of the line amenities. We are local and stayed to take their limo for an early flight ($20). It was worth it not to have to stay in a bare bone chain hotel at the airport.

I would recommend the Davenport for any reason you can think of to stay. It's only two blocks from Nordstrom. Great pizza across the street at "Fire."

Room Tip: Use AAA or AARP for a discount and upgrade your room for under $150. Valet parking is gracious and i...

We did not stay here, but did go for Xmas night dinner at the Palm Court Grille. Of course the lobby was decorated lavishly and the hotel is a real grand dame. The meal was good, and we enjoyed looking around at the old photos taken in the 20's when it was a high society hotel. It has been renovated beautifully in the public spaces. I plan to return for a night or two next time I pass through Spokane. It is a memorable hotel. Don't miss it. 2014 is its centennial and special events are planned.

Stayed here for a quick overnight getaway and the place is simply awe-inspiring. There are two hotels - the original Davenport and the newer Davenport Tower (which are across the street from each other).

The check in was quick, friendly. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Luxury all the way.

Room service was quick, hot and fresh. The bar in lobby is a great place to meet up with friends or have a quick cocktail. Great staff.

Visited the spa which was very indulgent - took care of all your needs from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave the spa.

The Davenport Hotel in downtown Spokane, Washington is the best in all of the Northwest including
Seattle and Vancouver BC. They have the best service, nicest rooms, best pool, best location, best food. They do everything right. On top of all of that their room rates are not much different than other downtown Spokane hotels. A hotel that is close to this level in Seattle or Vancouver, BC would be twice as much per night. The Davenport is a destination not just another hotel.

Room Tip: If you have a group of 6 or more get a corner parlor suite with an attaching room with double queens...

The Davenport Hotel seems to be leading a renaissance of downtown Spokane. Once surrounded by boarded up businesses, the area surrounding the hotel is now a vibrant mecca of restaurants, clubs and cafes. This historic hotel does everything right, providing excellent service and sumptuous rooms. We opted for a king room in the original art deco building, rather than what seemed just an ordinary room in the more modern tower building. We were rewarded with a huge room with walk-in shower, top quality bath products and down comforter & crisp cotton sheets. Be sure to peek in to see the many reception rooms one flight up from the lobby and check out the interesting photos of events that took place there in the years between the two world wars. The only downside at the Davenport Hotel is the parking situation. Since the Davenport is the venue for many receptions and corporate events, the parking garage across the street is often oversold. The hotel desperately needs more parking.

Room Tip: Best to opt for a room in the original art deco building

My husband and I just enjoyed a wonderful stay at the Davenport Hotel! We only stayed for one night while visiting the area from Seattle and I wish we could have stayed longer. The grand lobby was beautifully decorated for Christmas with an huge tree in the center. Check in was easy as well as parking in the garage across the street. Parking costs $15 for the night which seemed reasonable since the hotel is located right in the center of downtown. Our room was spacious, beautiful and very clean. We stayed in the main hotel and not the tower. I loved taking the self guided tour and learning more about the amazing story of the hotel although there were 3 weddings going on so we couldn't go into all of the ballrooms. We had drinks at the Peacock lounge for happy hour but didn't get a chance to eat in any of the restaurants. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone interested in history or who wants a lovely, comfortable place to stay in downtown Spokane. I look forward to returning and trying the Sunday brunch!

Green Features: I liked the fact that the hotel toiletries were in dispensers rather than the plastic bottles that you just end up throwing away.
