“Consistently high value and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2008

We've stayed at this hotel a number of times (sometimes with our dog) while visiting my mother in a nearby skilled nursing facility. The value for the price is excellent. The rooms have all been clean, well-equipped, and adequate in size--and all of them have had a comfortable chair for reading (not to be taken for granted!). We have yet to encounter any staff member who was less than courteous, efficient, & helpful. They know what they're doing & try to do their jobs right. (A nice contrast to many other places where the staff appear to resent the intrusion of guests.) The continental breakfast isn't bountiful, but it's quite adequate for starting the day. And there are newspapers available in the breakfast room.

We were just passing through and needed a nice inexpensive hotel. This one fit the bill. It is quiet and in a quiet part of town, but also near downtown and the freeway. It suited us perfectly!

We decided to stay here based on other reviews which were glowing. The property is nice and we have no major complaints but it's nothing special. It's right next to the hospital so their stock in trade seems to be people from around the generally rural region coming in for various medical reasons. Quiet and nice neighborhood (but they did warn us about car prowls).

The continental breakfast was dreadful. Don't bother. The room ("corporate" room) was way smaller than the picture. The staff was accomodating and pleasant but didn't rise to the level I had expected based on other posters. Wi-fi was functional at an acceptable speed.

This is a non-smoking hotel (no probelm there) so every smoker, including staff, tends to hang out right at the front entrance so one has to walk through the smoke to get inside.

So, bottom line is that this is an OK hotel in a nice part of town but is nothing special.

My wife and I were in town for a wedding, and we stayed at the Madison because of the good reviews on TripAdvisor. So we expected a positive experience, and the hotel did not disappoint.

For $89/night, we got a "corporate king" room. The room was smallish, but clean and plenty adequate. The A/C unit looked new, and worked fine. There was a fridge, microwave, flat-screen TV and - yes! - a window that actually opens.

The hotel is located next to a hospital, but I didn't hear any sirens in the middle of the night. It's in a residential neighborhood and was somewhat hard to find at first. Look for a small green sign that leads into the parking lot, which is above street level and can't be seen from Rockwood St.

There is free popcorn in the lobby - which is on the 3rd floor - a soda machine that takes credit cards ($1 for a bottle of Coke - that's cheaper than at most stores), laundry facilities and something called a "room of tranquility" on the 4th floor next to the elevator.

The continental breakfast is okay - bagels, muffins, pastries, toast, English muffins, juice, tea/coffee - no cereal, waffles or fruit. But it was fine - enough to get us going and out the door.

Overall, the Madison is a really nice hotel and at $89, a bargain for what you get. Should we be in the area again, we'll definitely stay here.

This hotel is the most convenient for access to Sacred Heart Medical Center/Children's Hospital. I've stayed there several times in the past, with my most recent stay in February '08. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They take great care of their guests, healthy and not so healthy. The continental breakfast is just the bare essentials, so don't expect anything more than a pastry and some coffee or juice. If you are staying because of an appointment, procedure, or surgery at SHMC, ask for the medical discount. It's not much, but it helps if you expect to be there for an extended period of time. My only complaint would be the size of the parking lot, it's very small and crowded, especially with snow plowed into a few of the spots. Of course, that's understandable, considering how snowy it can be in Spokane at times. Be careful if you park on the street, next to the parking meters. I saw several cars towed away, in the middle of the night, when they were blocking the snow plow. I don't believe the cars belonged to hotel guests, but it's still something to consider if you arrive late and can't find parking in the lot. Aside from that, the convenience to the hospital is the real draw for this hotel. If you are able, it's a short walk across the street to the entrance. I believe the hospital also provides a shuttle back and forth between the hospital and hotel. Just ask at the front desk, they'll be able to help you out.

The Madison is a real find in Spokane! It's located on the South Hill right across from Sacred Heart Hospital so it's handy for the families of patients. Don't worry about ambulance noise, though. You'll hear none!

The staff is incredibly kind and helpful. From my first phone contact with Amanda to make my reservation to my conversation with Michael, the assistant manager, it was obvious that this staff is a cut above your usual hotel employees.

The room was sparkling clean (how many times can we say that?) with a comfortable bed, multi-channel TV, microwave, little refrigerator and a coffeemaker. Directly calling the hotel may be the best idea since the rates were superb...$57 a night for a king room.

I stayed there while visiting friends for Christmas and found everything quite homey and comfortable. This will always be my hotel of choice in Spokane in the future.

The Madison Inn was a great place to stay. Our room was on the 4th floor facing west and when standing near the window we could see St. John's Cathedral. The staff at the front desk were friendly and helpful. Their lobby was one of the most inviting and unpretentious that I've ever been in. For being right next to a hospital, it was very quiet. Everything in the room was in good condition, though we prefer firm beds and this one was a bit soft.

The wireless internet was not working the first night we were there, but it was up the next day. I was very impressed that when we booked three nights but only stayed two in order to get back over the pass before a new storm hit, they only charged us for the two we stayed.

  • Liked — The location was far enough from the freeway to be quiet, but still central
  • Disliked — the bed was softer than we prefer
