“Great place for pets”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2011

My wife and I stayed at the Red Lion River Inn in Spokane and we have enjoyed the property quite a few time. If you have a pet there are a number of rooms that have sliding doors that access grassy areas for your pets to do their business. There is another Red Lion about four blocks away that is well suited for families with children. This hotel is also good for pets there is not any rooms with direct access to the outside. If you have never stayed in a Red Lion Hotel give them a try. I have never had any real issues with any of the many ones I have stayed at.

Room Tip: If you have a pet ask for one of the ground level rooms with the sliding glass doors.

I will be traveling to Spokane regularly and decided to give the Red Lion a try for two nights. Positives: the per night rate was good compared to the other local hotels. The room was clean, bed comfortable and quiet (though ice cold when I first got there because the heat had been off); onsite restaurant was decent and prices were reasonable; front desk staff were friendly. Computer and printer in the lobby to print your boarding pass. Negatives: first the lower hallway was closed and there is no elevator. You were detoured up the stairs down the upper hallway, back down the stairs and continue the trek to the far wings. The hotel has a sprawling layout and rooms in the back wings are a bit of a trek. The room has a space for a microwave and refrigerator but none are in the room. You may be able to request one if you want. The biggest negative for me was the internet connection. You have the option of upgrading to high speed for $5 a nigh, but my connection kept flickering and wouldn't stay connected long enough to even do that. I finally gave up. The front desk couldn't help and transferred me to the internet customer service who were no help either.

Room Tip: If you have trouble with walking make sure to request a room close to the lobby.

Shuttle from the airport came in about 10 min. Conference room was temperature comfortable. Bathroom in room was very tight. Had to sit sideways on the seat or close the door completely. It's always nice to have microwave and frig in room. Shuttle back to airport was efficient and helpful driver.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights with two adjoining rooms. It's a fairly decent hotel and met most of my expectations. I really liked that I had a feather pillow and the bed was double sheeted, unfortunately we still had the use the bed cover for warmth and I don't like those at all.

The room was clean-ish. Unfortunately in both of the rooms we rented we found something from a previous guest on the floor (a bottle of medicine in one room and a tooth flosser in the other).

Our room had sliding glass doors onto a lawn and tennis courts, I really liked this feature. We found it to be very quiet, we heard almost no noise at all!

We had a special rate and this helped me "overlook" the negatives. I may have felt differently if we were paying full price.

Room Tip: I prefer first floor facing the tennis courts. Much quieter.

Spent one night here as part of a road trip. Room was a standard King, very nicely appointed and comfortable. Really good exercise room, very helpful staff. Not special, but good for the price and location.

This was a pure by-chance thing. We didn't book anywhere in Spokane and stumbled onto the Red Lion Inn next to the river. What can I say - after the room from hell in the city from hell (Seattle) you saved us! Great room, great dinner, great breakfast, (especially Steve Marrot the chef who came and told us how he made that sensational pudding!) The walk the next day around the river was magnificent, we fell in love with this town. 2 questions though - Why where all the Red Lion Inn staff smiling and so happy? The other question is the only downside - what happened to our fridge? There was a place where it used to be, but no fridge.

This was our second stay at a Spokane WA Red Lion. Last year we stayed at the Red Lion next to Riverfront Park. We decided to give the sister hotel a try, as it seemed a quieter, adult-friendly location.

This hotel is situated adjacent to the Gonzaga University campus. The plus side is that the walkways and grounds are shared and absolutely wonderful to walk. The down side - if it really is a downside - is that it makes the hotel very desirable for the student's families. It wasn't an issue, for us. Most of the younger kids stayed at the other hotel (more family-friendly pool!).

Check-in was slow. The staff were friendly, however. No elevators so, if you have mobility issues, let the staff know and they'll assist you with your luggage. It's only two storeys, so, it's no big deal. We booked into a King Premium room, overlooking, what I call, the "tanning pool". This is a small, rather shallow pool that seems geared more toward catching "rays" than actually swimming. It's, also, where the hot tub is located. If you want a regular pool, you need to walk to the far south-east section of the hotel. It's a nice pool, though, and is worth investigating.

Our room was typical "Red Lion". As a Premium, it was a bit larger than out last room. That was nice. It was clean and everything worked well. The a/c worked great! We were in Spokane during a heat wave and this was a big deal. The mattress was only so-so.

There's a standard bathroom. Fixtures were fine and everything was clean. Full-size tub.

The parking was free and convenient. The wifi was ok. Caught Happy Hour at the "Ripples" restaurant. Ok. Friendly server.

The location suited our needs. Less than 10 minutes to Northern Quest Casino. Walking distance to downtown and Riverfront Park. It was great!

As with our previous Red Lion stay, housekeeping was a bit of an issue. On our second day, of our three-day stay, we had to call housekeeping at 4:00 pm to come "turn" our room. While they sent someone promptly, they only did a cursory job, without restocking any of the amenities or doing any real cleaning. We tip. Everyday. If they'd have done a proper job, I wouldn't have mentioned it, here.

Nonetheless, it was a nice enough stay and, given the affordable room rate, it was worthwhile.
