“Nice hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2007

I booked this hotel for $51 on priceline and it turned out to be a great deal. Our room was on the river side of the hotel, much better than the parking lot view.... Also they have a good happy hour in the restaurant. The only downside of this hotel is that it is a bit to far to walk to the centre of downtown on a colder night, but the walk through the park was great during the daytime. There is free parking too, which the downtown hotels like the Double Tree charge $7-10 a night.

  • Liked — Nice room.
  • Disliked — Distance to downtown at night.

I am surprised by some of the reviews that I read here. We booked two rooms through PriceLine for $50/each (about $60 with taxes and fees) and were very satisfied.

The grounds were well-kept, parking was easy, good fitness center, and good pool. All the staff that we encounted were very friendly and helpful.

The room was clean (including the bathroom!), the beds were extremely comfortable, and I did not hear any room-to-room noise. The hallways and stairways were clean as well.

There was a large bike race going on while we were there. The crowds were well-handled. This property is located a short walk from Spokane's Riverfront Park - which is nice.

There is no elevator - which would have been nice with the heavy luggage we had.

I think we got an EXCELLENT value for the money.

  • Liked — Location, Comfortable Beds
  • Disliked — No elevator, spotty internet service.

Don't be sold on a 3 star rating for this hotel. It is a 2 star at best. I would compare it to a Howard Johnson. I was very upset when I seen how dirty the halls were. I wondered if they owned a vaccuum. At check in we had to be moved from the first room they put us in to another because of the vomit smell. The second room we had to call maintenance twice to unclog our toilet.
The reviews of this hotel is a stretch and I would say if you do not want to be disappointed upon arrival, choose another hotel. You will make up the difference in the cost as breakfast or dinner runs the price of a 4 star hotel. I will never stay at one again.

  • Liked — beds were pretty comfortable
  • Disliked — filthyness

We stayed here 1 night on a road trip and had booked through Priceline. This is definately the least desirable 3* through Priceline in Spokane. At other hotels people talk about getting Priceline rooms we appeared to get a Priceline building! It was at the far end with a view of a factory and we seemed to be the only occupants. The building needed a good clean the glass doors and windows were flithy and there was unidentified matter on the stairs. The room had been renovated up to Red Lion standards and that was fine but again needed a good clean and although the cupboard was there for fridge and MW it was empty. The AC was old and very noisy. The bed was made poorly with some major lumps under the sheet. If I was paying full price would not choose this hotel, it was adequate but hope I do not get it again. The check in staff was disinterested and did not offer any hotel information. They do have a pool but did not get time to check it out and I believe some rooms have a nice view of the river/pool.

Watch out for the toilet! We lifted the lid to find significant human excriment on the toilet seat. Took over 1 hr to get cleaned. Next morning took shower to find it too had not been cleaned, hair and other bodily fluids in tub from previous guest. No offer of a discount, upgrade. Be highly cautious when going into the bathrooms!

  • Liked — shower head
  • Disliked — cleanliness entire hotel needs a good cleaning.

Really nice clean stay. Some updated features like the bathroom with a nice large marble-like counter for toiletries.

Can have a distance to walk from one building to another to get to the front desk and no elevators but only two level building.

Rooms that give you a glimpse of the river and view of tennis court not bad.

Not too far from downtown and shopping malls on either side of hotel.

At $59-$69 a good deal but no more. Good for 1-2 night stay.

  • Liked — Discount, Clean, Somewhat updated
  • Disliked — Long distance to walk from front desk to room

The rooms have been remodeled recently, but the outside of the hotel and grounds need some serious TLC. The real problem here is the staff. I'm not sure there is much training done here. After a late night, we were awakened by the maid at 8:00 am. wanting to clean our room. That was slightly annoying, but not as much as the guy who decided to vacuum the hallway directly outside our room 10 minutes later. Up and down the hallway he went and finally I got up and told him some guests just might still be sleeping... I was pretty much ignored because he was engaged in deep conversation with another employee...and the vacuuming continued, as well as much loud talking and laughing from several employees from the housekeeping staff who seemed to gather there. Party outside of room 115!!! Woohoo! They didn't seem too concerned about it, and not at all considerate. There were other problems with the front desk staff as well... but I'm running out of room. Anyway, I'm not a picky or snooty traveller, and I don't expect to be treated like a king at the Red Lion, but a little consideration would be nice.
