This has become one of my favorite breakfast go-to places simply because the menu is atypical and delicious - a rarity for Spokane. On my most recent visit, I ordered the Baked eggs in a tomato ragu with polenta and mozzarella - delicious. My only complaint was that I felt the tomato sauce was a little over-powering in the dish and kind of drowned out the flavor of the polenta. My husband ordered the skillet Italian Pork Hash and had a superb meal. As always, service was friendly and prompt.
The restaurant is small and seating can feel a little tight if you need a place to spread out bags and newspapers, etc. I love the neighborhood and the casual, but hip feel to the atmosphere. Most of our visits seem to occur at 9am on Sunday mornings -not a time I personally feel like rocking out to music. For whatever reason, the staff likes to play their tunes at a decibel level that I find a little annoying because it makes conversation more difficult. For me, this is the reason I don't give it 5 stars. Maybe the staff needs the music to get energized, but I personally like a more subdued background noise when dining in a smaller venue. Call me old-fashioned, but I still like to converse across the table without having to raise my voice to be heard! Having said that, I will still come here for breakfasts simply because their food and prepartion is reliably good and creative.
