“Restaurant closed and Shilo in Spokane sold to Comfort Inn”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2008

We were lucky we chose a weekend that was very slow so the Inn was very quiet. Upon check -in we asked for a menu for the restaurant located on the 5th floor. We were told the restaurant was closed and that the Shilo Inn had been sold to Comfort Inn and more changes would be coming soon. We later asked for some complimentary popcorn that we thought was available in the lobby, but we were charged $1. It is cheaper to get it in the vending machine (.95) They did offer apples for free. The advertised wet bar is bottled water that sells for $1.50 each. The room was nice and clean but did have an odor as well as the hallway. I thought the bed was very comfortable (except for the Strong smell of bleach) but my husband complained both nights that it was too hard...

  • Liked — It was almost empty...which made it very quiet!
  • Disliked — Restaurant was closed

Upon reading other reviews. I would have to agree with the fact that one guy seem to care to work there. Room service was great. the other employees were good but not as good as the one guy. However they were kind enough to shuttle me around town several times. Don't expect the same from doubletree hotel a few miles down. I wouldn't mind staying at Shilo again, but i think they need to remodel a bit. I have to admit they were the best Shilo Inn i have stayed in. Typical breakfast options though. Room was very clean and i slept like a baby. They don't have water in the vending machines but luckily they have some water at the front desk. Although, it's $2 for a 16 oz bottle. A little steep for water.

I believe there is a gas station near by.....

This is a decent hotel in Spokane. Quite a bit pricey for the location and decor, though. I paid $100/night for a double but it was a busy weekend so I didn't have much choice under $200/night. The night front desk staff was very friendly and helpful but the morning staff was not at all friendly. The hotel is dated and the run-down exterior makes it look like a total dump. The interior has been renovated a little, though the rooms could use some TLC. The complimentary snack (cookies, popcorn and fresh fruit) at check-in was a nice touch. I followed the directions on the card that says if you don't want your towels replaced everyday leave them hanging up, but my towels were all replaced anyway. Since the chain is pet-friendly, I will consider it when I travel with my dogs.

  • Liked — Compimentary fruit & cookies
  • Disliked — High price, poor shape

This is the second time I stayed there this year. All I did there was attend business meetings during the day and sleep during the night.
The meeting rooms upstairs are nice and generic . Plenty of space for a small business to do their meetings. The bar is pretty cool and attractive. The morning "hot breakfast" was not set up on time as mentioned in their coupon they hand to you when you check in. Hot breakfast =make your own waffles, oatmeal, and a microwaved breakfast burrito....or you can have the usual fare such as cereal or donuts. All in all, the breakfast was ok...not the best, not the worst.

The rooms were clean...however the toilet was leaking and a puddle was always present just behind the tank. Took me a minute to figure out the shower "button" too. It kept jamming. Room service was excellent. The public areas (bathrooms and etc) were clean. I could tell they take cleanliness seriously.

We were greeted by an enthusiastic front desk attendant. He seemed to be the only one that was happy to be there...everyone else was ho-hum or somewhat non-existent.

Price was pretty darn good.

  • Liked — Clean, price, general accomodations. Quiet at night.
  • Disliked — Not close to anything interesting. Have to pay for bottled water.
  • Tips/Secrets — Sometimes they have cookies at the front desk...as well as dog treats.

I appreciate a clean and adequate sized room, this is exactly what we had at the Shilo. The breakfast is nice and varries a bit from day to day. Location was good for us and we will stay here again.

My wife and I decided to get away for Memorial Weekend and wanted some place close since our plans were last minute. We decided to go to Spokane since we had never been, and having never stayed at a Shilo, we decided to give them a try.

Our room was clean and larger than expected, and we even got a great price for having made our plans last minute. The people working at the desk were very helpful in helping us find things to do in Spokane which really made a difference in an unplanned weekend. We will definately be back.

We made our reservations in advance threw ----.We were pleased to find an avalible hotel that met our needs(one with a pool) so easily as our reservations where for the evening of Spokane's Torche Light Parade(absolutely wonderfull)and finding a room by foot was getting us nowhere fast (thanks ----).Excited about the parade (our 2 daughter's first)and a pool. We told them they could go swimming as soon as we were settled in.They put us in a room on the opposite side of the building.I had previously requested overlooking RiverFront Park, so we may enjoy the fire works from our room should our lil one fall asleep. They informed me they had a full house and no avalible rooms left.We got to our Rm#425 which was covered with silly string(walls/ceiling)and had not been cleaned or vacuumed.10minutes of figuring out what to do NOW.We called the front desk who sent house keeping(she said "It was hard to clean silly string"and asked me what else was wrong with it)They moved us across the hall where we originally asked to be.Giving us two key's (only one worked),I took the girls down for a swim.GROSS!The spa smelt of sweat and was a filthy brown.needless to say I didn't get in.Said they had resently remodled "not true".the whole experience wasn't worth the $spent. We dont take alot of trips and could have driven home but, decided to treat ourselves to an enjoyable relaxing evening.that turned out to be a waste of time and patience.Just wanted others who work hard for thier money to beware and save time by driving back home or just drive on by, but if you must stay not much further U can save alot of hassle and stay in coeurdalene's Shilo Inn.Where thier both friendlyand clean.
