Out on the old highway between Long Beach and Longview Washington is the Julia Butler Hanson Columbia Black Tailed Deer Preserve and the little village of Skamokawa. The Duck Inn has been a local establishment for many, many years, including both a restaurant and lounge (The Drake Room) which was slowly disintegrating into the Columbia River slough behind the place. It was always a reliable stop on the way to or from the coast.
Now, the restaurant and bar have been completely rebuilt from the ground up, including a beautiful deck overlook the slough that is open during the summer months. Clean, warm and friendly, the "new" Duck Inn is a welcoming place that serves even better quality food for breakfast, lunch and dinner than the original. The Western Burger is made from 100% ground chuck, with thick sliced bacon, a large fried onion ring, BBQ sauce and all of the trimmings. After eating there twice, I must say that this is the very best hamburger that I have eaten anywhere in the west. I am sure that all of their food is of equal quality at a reasonable price.
A friendly staff with an easy going pace. Welcoming to the mix of loggers and kayakers, alike!
