“Perfect off season retreat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013 via mobile

Personalized service made this a five star experience. Owner Dwight was kind, attentive and went out of his way to accommodate our family. He gave us recommendations for site seeing that made the most of the limited winter daylight hours and tailored to our interests. Maps and restaurant tips left us more time to enjoy our weekend instead of researching for ourselves. Then he quietly slipped into the background to give us relaxed privacy while still making himself available 24/7.

We stayed in the spacious two bedroom Guest House which had a super comfortable king sized bed plus a cute kids room with two twin beds. Full kitchen and plenty of seating for lounging around in the long evenings. Our two teenagers boys were never bored here with all the movies to watch, puzzles and books. 24 hour acess to the main lodge kitchen kept their snacking appetites happy too with free popcorn and hot chocolate.

Rebecca prepared breakfasts that were out of this world, both delicious and beautiful. She even prepared plates to take back to our cabin when the teenagers wanted to sleep late. So thoughtful!

The pennisula has its own special charm in the cold weather that is definitely worth seeing. The electric wood stove in our cabin kept us cozy warm all night. Off season is quiet and we felt our business was especially appreciated.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lost Mountain in the beginning of October. We stayed for a full week and had a delightful vacation. Dwight was most helpful in guiding us to the best parts of the park as well as restaurants in the area. Breakfast was excellent thanks to Rebecca and T'Lyn who were also helpful as guides to the area. Everyone was friendly and accommodating going the extra mile for our comfort even sending us off with a boxed breakfast on the days we left early for the ferry to Victoria and our trip back to the airport. Our room (Creekside) was spacious and clean with a delightfully comfortable bed. We felt free to enjoy the kitchen facilities, living room, and beautiful private grounds. We would certainly recommend Lost Mountain as it is the best inn in the area.

This was our first taste of B&B US-style and we're hooked. Dwight is a super host and his recommendations of sightseeing opportunities in the area were a great help, allowing us to make the most of our 2 days here. Rebecca and T'Lyn provided us with delicious breakfasts, these girls are so talented ! The room was nicely decorated, very clean and the bed was so comfortable. The Lodge is in a tranquil setting and it was very relaxing to watch the ducks in the pond and the dragonflies flitting around in the evening.
Good job, Dwight; we will certainly be visiting the Lost Mountain Lodge again.

We very much wanted to like this place, reflected in our willingness to spend well over $300 for a single night. We thought it would be really special, quaint, romantic, etc. While the staff was very friendly and helpful as a guide to the local area, the actual accommodations were like, for lack of a better term, your fake grandma's cheaply renovated McMansion, lacking real charm or any character (for example, the cheap glued back-splash in the kitchen was peeling off). The breakfast was OK, and the property is decent, but has no real proximity to nature or walking trails (you feel like your in a neighborhood- fairly close to strip-malls). I think the photos are terribly misleading, and I only write this harsh review because I felt the price paid was highly disproportionate to the quality of the house and want others to not make the same mistake.

I was so surprised to find out that this reviewer stayed in the very same room that I stayed in my first time at Lost Mountain Lodge. Here is how I would review that room.

Lilacs and ribbons for my bedspread, a fluffy comforter and high count sheets. Wow! This alone made my sleep time fantastic and dreamy. My room had fresh flowers in a glass vase and a view of the 9 plus acres of the Lost Mountain Lodge forest/gardens and crowning the view was the glacier fields in the Olympic National Park. There was a window seat big enough to take a nap. This huge master suite with a fireplace stole my heart. The well appointed room with lovely classic decor was everything I loved about Lost Mountain Lodge. This is not your Gramma's B&B. (You are not staying with Ma and Pa Kettle and "borrowing" Little Debbie's room while she is off at teacher's college complete with old wallpaper and tacky stuffed animals). Instead you are in a massive lodge with two story high ceilings in the Fireplace lounge, a kitchen/dining area bigger than my first apartment, and a deck with a hot tub overlooking a pond, gardens and a meadow. So sorry you missed the experience I had.

Anyone who would like to see the Sunny View Room (it is huge!) can do so on the web. In fact, we always ask a person to look at the web to see the room they are requesting.

My husband and I planned our trip in July starting off in Seattle seeing the sites and then arrived in Sequim, Washington. This bed & breakfast is beautifully placed in a quiet and secluded location. Upon arriving, Dwight served us wine and cheese and made sure that all of our accommodations or needs were addressed. The breakfasts that were served were 5 star thanks to Grace. Besides visiting during the Lavender Festival, we also went on our own Twilight Tours visiting the many sites from the book. Great location from Seattle to the bed & breakfast on your way to Vancouver. This was a memorable trip and one we hope to do again.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are beautiful!!

We stayed at the Lodge last week and had a fabulous time. Dwight could not have been a better host. All of his travel tips were right on. The lodge is beautiful and very comfortable. Everything you need is right there. The food was so delicious. Every morning a gourmet breakfast was served by a friendly professional staff. If you plan a trip here, you will not be sorry!

Wondering why there are so few bad reviews and so many good ones. This place is NOT that wonderful nor is the owner/cooker very honest or really interested in anything but money. You'd have to really convince me that hpp123456 is a real person who really stayed there and had the experience they state,

WONDERING why you reviewed out Lodge when you never even stayed here.

So sad when someone reviews our B&B who actually NEVER stayed here overnight. While I can appreciate that you were trying to "defend" your friend who had a wedding here which you attended...you actually cannot review our rooms as to accommodations, cleanliness, etc.
