We stayed two nights in the Grape Escape. Each caboose is done up in a unique theme, and great care is taken to transform the authentic little caboose into that design. The Grape Escape is a wine themed car, and full of fun wine-related things. One thing that you should know is that most of the cars have only a bathtub for bathing, although some have a removable shower head on the faucet apparatus. If you have trouble showering on your knees, be sure to request the caboose with the stand up shower. I understand that the one next to the dining car has a shower enclosure. Also, the cars are designed so that the bathtub has no door or shower curtain around it, so you are only behind a little half wall. Very attractive, but not a lot of privacy. Our fireplace fan was rather noisy, but we did tell Olaf about it and he is working on getting it repaired. Now for the good stuff: Breakfast was heavenly! Every course was prepared with care and absolutely delicious. Service in the dining car was extremely good, and both Charlotte and Olaf, and also their son, Leif, who served us the first morning, go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Olaf took us on a little tour of some of the cabooses just before we left for home. His enthusiasm and knowledge add another dimension to the entire experience. There is a pretty duck pond where many ducks gather and there's always something interesting to watch there. I rated it a four for value, since we got in on the Spring Fling special with the second night's rate reduced. It's located on a city lot, which would ordinarily not be my first choice for location, but it is definitely unique. All in all, a good experience.
