“Ants in the pants!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2012 via mobile

Well... not really in the pants, but certainly in the room! Quite a healthy infestation too. When I mentioned these unwelcome guests to the manager she just passed it off by saying: "Well, it's that time of year after all." D:

Other highlights:
* Lots of noise - day and night - from neighboring rooms despite posted quiet hours.

* Rude, whiny, unprofessional manager. (Backstory on this: I'm a travel nurse. My agency sets up my lodgings when I'm out working. The manager rudely told me to tell my agency to never call outside of "business hours" and then proceeded to whine at me about getting woken up at 5:30 am abput setting up my stay. Last I checked it was not my job to be her liason to my agency!)

* Don't believe the website when they advertize free wifi. Technichally there is wifi available - in one corner of the motel lobby. The manager tried to feed me a line about how the building was too old to support wifi in the rooms.

If you want a cheap, no frills room and don't mind sharing your bathroom with sugar ants this is your place. Just remember - you get what you pay for.

“Peace & Quiet in a Motel. What a Concept!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2010

Disclaimer: I am heavily biased toward motels that offer truly quiet rooms.

Other reviewers have properly characterized what you'll find at Red Ranch Inn. Yes, the motel is run down, with carpets in the rooms probably not as clean as you would have at home. Yes, amenities in the rooms are sparse: a sliver of soap, cable TV, wireless internet, a microwave, and free local calling is about all you get. The continental breakfast offers slim pickings, too.

But Red Ranch Inn offers a truly quiet room and a good rest, IF you select rooms in a particular part of the property. The Red Ranch Inn has guest rooms in two buildings:

* The 2 storey main building visible from W. Washington Street, where the office is located.

* A second 2 storey building behind the main building, located a few steps to the north of the main building but separated by a narrow, low-traffic street that looks more like an alley.

It is in guest rooms in the second building to the north of the main building where you will find peace and quiet, because most traffic noise from W. Washington St. and Highway 101 is blocked.

A second design feature of rooms in the second building contributes significantly to the quiet of the rooms: There are NO WINDOWS overlooking the parking lot to the east of those rooms! That means that you will not hear those inconsiderable SOBs bent on waking up everyone else by starting up and endlessly idling their trucks and cars in the predawn hours. Nor will you have sunlight blazing into your room through skimpy curtains earlier than you'd like in summer months.

Finally, rooms in the second building are treated to a view of trees and an open field. For best results, stay in odd numbered rooms such as 113, 115, 117; they are on the SECOND floor and are reserved for non-smokers, so you won't have to listen to George peeing into his toilet at 5 am.

I've stayed in cleaner and more up-to-date motels than Red Ranch Inn, but very few motels offer this degree of quiet.

“Very Poor Option”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2010

Our party had 3 different rooms all of equally poor quality. Bathrooms were dirty. Sheets and pillow cases were dirty and in one room had not been changed from previous occupants. Guy at the front desk was rude. Maid service didn't even replace towels after taking the dirty ones. Beds are sagging, carpet is torn and dirty. Coffee pot wasn't cleaned from previous users. Creamer and sugar packets had old coffee stains. Shouldn't pay more than $25 per night if you can tolerate the place. We will not stay there again. There are much better choices in Sequim.

“It meets basic expectations”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2010

I decided to stay in Sequim while we traveled around the penninsula. Last year we stayed in Port Angeles and paid $150 for a basic old run down hotel. Sequim is a much more affordable option. The hotel is not fancy at all, but meets expectations for a basic hotel in a small Washington town. It is not pretty, but is cozy enough, and if you have pets it is a good place to stay.

“Good value, good service, but have realistic expectations.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2009

We were referred to the Red Ranch Inn in early August when it turned out that I'd mis-reserved rooms for a week earlier at the sold-out Olympic Lodge in Port Townsend. The price for the Red Ranch Inn was half the cost of The Olympic Lodge and included a continental breakfast (bagels, coffee, cereal). This is a classic roadside motel that is getting surrounded by newer, fresher places, but we were impressed with the customer service and did not have the problems with the rooms or cleanliness described in other reviews. Our room was utilitarian, yes, but it was clean and well maintained for a motel of this age. The motel was well located to do things in the area (beach, sea kayaking, Hurricane Ridge, etc.) and a good value for the price. It's 2 stories and I don't recall if there was an elevator (if you have access issues). There was a small frig in the room and there may have even been a microwave, I can't remember. The room didn't have air conditioning, but since it got so cool at night that wasn't a problem. There are 2 restaurants within 1 block and you're close to a Costco, McDonalds and downtown Sequim for other eating and shopping options. If you expect to spend a lot of time in your lodging, then this is not the place for you. If you're a family with kids who just want to watch TV when they're crashing at night and you'd rather splurge on activities (like the sea kayaking...not cheap!), then this is a good choice.
