“Looked like a cool hike and a great area!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

No PETS! Fee area. These are all fine if we had a better idea, but we didn't and were disappointed. BUT, the county park around the entrance to the Spit was cool and we enjoyed our dog there. Just be careful, no pets allowed out on the Spit as it is a Natural Refuge Area, we just didn't think of it, but it makes better sense now.

Easy to find: just follow the signs. great hiking trails. Hike down to the Dungeness spit...one of the longest in the world. Five miles out to the volunteer manned lighthouse.

“Easy trail, interpretive displays, great vistas”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

Easy paved trail down to the beach, then a long hike along the spit across stones and driftwood if you want to trek the 5 miles to the lighthouse. But the paved trail and interpretive material is a full outing for most of us. The trail is downhill to the beach, then an uphill pull to get back to the parking lot. Panoramic views of the spit, the lighthouse and the strait.

“Wonderful hiking area, great views and a lIghthouse”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

You can't visit this part of the Olympic Peninsula without visiting this area especially if you love a scenic hike. It's up to you if you hike on the spit, but how many places will let you tour a lighthouse at the end of your hike. Plenty of trails throughout the Refuge and great views of the Straights of Juan DeFuca and the Olympic Mountains. You can see for miles.
