My friend and I booked this "cottage" on the basis of website photos and decriptions. Caveat emptor! Not accurate. What looked on the website as a quaint and funky place turned out only to be funky. The largest "cottage", #1, which we booked so we could be comfy and hang out (it supposedly had a couch and comfy places to sit), was acutally a single wide mobile home with absolutely no character, and more importantly, NO COUCH! Just 2 queen beds and a couple of hard chairs that went with the dinette set.
Needless to say, we didn't stay in the room much since it was so uncomfortable.
Now this "cottage" goes for 100-120 a night. We checked some other places along the LB peninsula and found some adorable REAL cottages with many more amenities for the same price. So it's a real ripoff. It was a busy weekend and we arrived too late to find replacement lodging so we stuck it out.
I should also mention that the other units are literally falling apart (peeling paint, moss, sagging decks) and our unit was less than clean (dirty floors, esp in the bathroom) and filthy miniblinds. The photos on the website do not match the actual place and it seems like many of the cutesy deco in the place had been removed. Noticed a FOR SALE sign immediately and heard from the locals that the owners are having trouble. No kidding.
If they want to run a place that is more funky than quaint, fine, but don't charge the rates you're charging and be HONEST on your website.
Telling everyone I know about our "Bates Motel" experience.
Beds were comfy.
