“Your home away from home.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2008

We rented both units for Father's Day weekend 2008 for my husband and father as part of their Fathers day gifts. The units were just so wonderful and Trisha was such a pleasure. She showed us around the units and explained where everything was at in each one. She also made sure that we had plenty of brochures so we knew what was around us for either shopping or eating. She gave us an abundance of information as to what to see and do in the Long Beach peninsula. We had such a great time just being at the cottages our first afternoon my whole family is planning some more weekends to come down. The area has so many neat and fun things to do whether you enjoy shopping, going to the beach, hiking or just simply relaxing at your unit. There are so many touches it is truly a home away from home. I would give the cottages and hospitality a ten ouf of ten stars. Every time we go to Seaview this will the only place we will stay from now on. Thank you Trisha and Virgil for the lovely weekend and doing such a fine job at the Enchanted Cottages.

“A warm cocoon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2008

We rented both units. My husband and I stayed upstairs while my friends accupied the downstairs unit. It was one of those rainy Washington weekend when the rain stopped only in the evening. When we first saw the room, we were immediately taken by the many details of love that we could see everywhere. Virgil made it a point of making us feel welcome by turning the heat on before we arrive so that the apartment was cozy and inviting. He then spend time telling us about Long Beach, including giving us discount coupons and recommendations about the better places to eat. My husband, who often find beds uncomfortable for his 6'4'' frame was very pleased with the quality of the bed. He did find the shower to be a challenge, but still thinkss the overall comfort of the place to be worth it. Personally, I hope to always stay at the Enchanted Cottages whenever I vacation in Long Beach.

“Enchanted indeed!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2008

These cottages are perfect for those looking for a romantic getaway, or with family. We had my sister and her daughter upstairs, my husband and I, with our little toddler downstairs. The rooms are beautiful and ecclectic. The little touches made this stay all the more while. Virgil and Trish did not leave anything out, you don't even need to bring shampoo or a hair dresser, or even Q-tips! We have stayed at quite a few places, and this tops our list! You will not be disappointed!

“Enchanted Cottages the best place at the beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2008

Enchanted Cottages has been our favorite place in Long Beach for several years so we were sad to hear that the previous owners were selling the property. However, this weekend, we were pleased to see that the cottages are still there and available for rent. It is hard to believe that something so good could be improved upon, but that is precisely what Trisha and Virgil have done.

The Hollyhock Cottage kitchen is well-equipped, the bed profoundly comfortable and the decorating charming. Walking distance to the beach, excellent restaurants and a grocery store and stocked with coffee and biscotti for morning; handmade soaps in the bathroom; movies, games and books for relaxing--everything is here for a perfect stay.

“Charming cottage room -- an easy walk to the beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2008

We had stayed at what is now Enchanted Cottages a couple of years ago before it had been bought by its current owners. We were very happy that we tried this new version! We briefly sampled both rooms prior to choosing Captain’s Quarters, the slanted roofed upstairs of a little old remodeled beach house The bed was unusually comfortable with lovely sheets, comforter and throws. Though there was no built in shower, we enjoyed leisurely baths in a charming bathroom with little touches of special soaps and slippers. In the little well-supplied kitchen there were all sorts goodies for a morning of coffee or tea along with Almond Rocas and biscottis (subbing nicely for mints on the pillow) and really good actual, high-quality ground coffee (and filters) rather than the absurd little “coffee packets” currently so popular in so many hotels.

Although we were too busy sampling the many pleasures of the area to use them, the room was also replete with used books, games, DVDs and videos (for the small combination DVD-VCR-TV that sat inconspicuously in one corner of the room).

Virgil was out of town when we got there but he had been very accommodating and warm on the phone when made out reservations. His wife Trish was interesting and friendly in a rarely genuine way, helpful in all possible ways and in general, a pleasure to be with. All in all, each decision made for the remodel was done with care and taste, balancing cozy comfort and cleanliness with the old fashioned charm of a romantic hideaway for a couple, or great getaway for a single person.
