“An adequate Thai restaurant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2011

An adequate but undistinguished Thai restaurant. I had the green curry because it is an universal item on all Thai restaurant menus. It is a good way to compare one restaurant with another and easily reveals the kitchens care in selecting the quality of curry ingredients and herbs. My dining companion had Moo Dad Deaw (Marinated fried pork), Papaya Salad, Sticky Rice and Fried Wonton. Salty. Sweet with crunchy fried galic on top. 3 big shrimps, small dry shrimp, string bean, tomato, peanut, shreded papaya ( taste: tasty; not too hot, just right for sweetness, saltiness, sourness) Fried Wonton with cream chesse and crab meat, not out standing. Sticky rice without coconut milk softness OK.

“Excellent food, but beware of dishes labelled "spicy"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2011

We have been to Bai Tong several times, as it has always been very good and is close to the airport. This time, we decided to try some different dishes than the ones we've had before. We decided on the Kang Pa curry, which was labelled as spicy on the menu, and the waitress did warn us that it would be spicier than the other two dishes, even though we ordered a "2" out of 3 levels of spiciness for all three. Man, was it ever spicier! I have a pretty high tolerance for spice and could barely eat it. My husband and daughter couldn't finish their portions. We took the leftovers home and I doctored it up with more unspiced vegetables (LOTS of them) and it was still spicy enough to be considered hot. I don't know if they serve different levels of spiciness for this dish, but if there is a hotter one it could burn holes in your stomach.

Other than that, the food was excellent (the Kang Pa was also tasty if you could stand to eat it) and the portions were generous. The prices were a little more than other Thai restaurants of similar quality closer to home, but not out of line for Seattle area restaurants.

“A tiny restarunt that has stayed within our community”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2011

Bai Tong has moved a few times over the last ten years. Seattle's recent airport rennovations brought it out to the outskirts of Southcenter. At a recent visit, I was in awe of the beautiful changes they had made in the small space. An entire wall dotted with little candles tucked into spaces, beautiful colors, the kitchen behind a wall and not in the open. The food has always been superior, and will never change when one tastes the flavors. Always order seperate items from the menu so you can share your meal. Easy to find, located by the old Toys'R' Us and down from Half Price Books. Southcenter Parkway is now open, if you go to Bai Tong stay in the far RIGHT lane which will take you straight down the parkway.

“Bai Tong Seattle (new location)”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2011

Until recently Bai Tong was on Pacific Highway (International Blvd) but has been supplanted by the Link - Light Rail. The restaurant has since moved to a Southcenter Parkway location in the heart of the strip mall capital of the Northwest. The food is commensurate with its location. The people are sure nice, but the food is just OK with reasonable prices. They have done a good job on the interior making it comfortable and appealing.
Food: My Pad Thai seemed to have been made with ketchup - and a lot of it. Very generous portion though.
Wife's Papaya Salad was fairly bland. In fairness I'm not sure there is such a thing as a good one. What is done with the Papaya in this dish doesn't seem to ever work out well.

“The best Thai food around, amazing cuisine at an affordable price.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2010

This is perhaps my favorite place to eat while traveling near SeaTac. It's a hidden gem, found in the middle of a shopping center, but it's fare is amazing. I am a Thai food lover and eat out a lot, so I am fairly picky. The food is always served quickly, and the quality is consistent. Ambiance is lovely, with dimmed lighting and traditional Thai decorations and colors. I love the Eight Angels dish - which is light but full of fresh vegetables and seafood. The Pad Thai and soups are amazing and dish sizes and quite large. Try their fresh rolls - the best anywhere in WA State - you won't be disappointed. I have never had room for dessert here, but I see they have a lovely dessert menu. They are also great at preparing takeout if you don't have time on your travels to stop for a while - just call ahead and they have it all ready for you.
