“Wonderful Getaway at Cedarbrook Lodge”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2011

My husband and I stayed for a long weekend at Cedarbrook Lodge in early February. Having never been there, we relied on TripAdvisor reviews and were happy we did. We got a great AAA rate, which gave us three nights for the price of one, and a late checkout on our last day. However, we weren't aware there was also a complimentary upgrade to the next class of room until we actually made the reservations and got the confirmation letter where that detail was mentioned. Thus, we paid for the suite and could have paid for the smaller room and been upgraded to the suite for the same price. When we mentioned this at check-in, we were told there are only a limited number of suites and we may not have been able to get a suite if it had already been booked anyway - adding that there had been a number of inquiries into the suite. This was not a big deal, and on the plus side, they honored the credit for checked baggage where they reimburse you the cost of checked baggage (one bag for each (max two), for the flight to Seattle). The website said they would not credit the cost if combined with any other promotion (AAA), but they reimbursed us with no problem at all. I believe this promotion expires in March of this 2011. Without going into detail, we agree with the other positive reviews here....great service, comfy bed, free healthy breakfast (wonderful if you're not expecting bacon and pancakes), great view from our room, a wonderful clean gym that I want in my own home - with Life Fitness equipment and men's/women's bathroom with shower and towels and a great view while exercising. In the room, the TV is a little on the small and old side, but it worked just fine for us. Inside the room with the windows closed, we never heard any airport noise. I'm always about the bathroom, and I was pleasantly surprised to see a magnified make-up mirror, and the tub was huge (see pics). Our shuttle drivers picked us up from the airport, and shuttled us to the Lite Rail, which took us to downtown. Kudos to Tasha and Alice, who were both friendly, informative and warm. We found a few hairs and a mud smudge on the bathroom floor after housekeeping had cleaned, but we met the housekeeper and she was also warm, pleasant and friendly. A great, quiet and romantic stay at the Cedarbrook Lodge! Oh, and my brother and his wife stayed at the lodge as well. Their room was the standard room, and a bit on the small side, but our suite was quite large. All four of us hung out with a glass of wine in our room in the eve.

After watching a Seattle television piece saying that the #1 Hotel in the country was "right here in Seattle" we decided that we needed to see for ourselves. The TV piece was based on Trip Advisor's feedback. We live about 100 miles away but get the Seattle TV stations.

The hotel is very close to the airport but you feel like you're tucked into a secluded, wooded area far from civilization. The setting is serene and scenic. The rooms are very quiet.

The common "living room" with free munchies and a fireplace was a very nice aspect. We enjoyed the Hagen Daas ice cream, sitting by the fireplace. The chips and water were tasty too.

Although the hotel was nearly full on the night that we stayed.. it seemed like there was hardly anyone else there. It was great.

The continental breakfast was excellent. There wasn't a huge selection of items but what was there was very nice. They had delicious bagels, the best granola that I've ever eaten with large pecans and other yummy ingredients, oatmeal, yougurt, juices, and Starbucks coffee. They also had extra ingredients to doctor your granola or oatmeal to include pecans, almonds, hazelnuts, and raisins.

Our queen bed room was on the small size but it was very stylish, very Pacific Northwest modern. We had plenty of pillows and the bed was very comfortable. The high-speed internet was very quick and there wasn't a "process" to sign on and use it, just click on your browser and go.

The hotel was typically priced for a nice, Seattle airport hotel. We paidabout $100 a night. I was surprised that it was so "reasonable." I felt it was definitely an excellent choice compared to the other national upscale chain hotels in the area that would have been at least as expensive. We loved it and will defintely stay here the next time we're in town.

My two best friends & I stayed just one night to go shopping at Southcenter Mall. I had read about the good reviews on Tripadvisor, and was not disappointed.

The hotel is lovely... not FANCY, but lovely. Peaceful, clean, welcoming and warm. It was a bit strange to check in at one building and then go out to your car and drive to another parking lot where the rooms are, but once we got our bearings, we realized that all these buildings are very close to each other and it's very easy to get around through their covered walkways.

As in other reviews, the "Living Room" was a great addition to our stay. There was Hagen Dazs ice cream, bottled water, Jalepeno chips...all free. It's a lovely surprise to find out that room is available to guests.

We had a FABULOUS hamburger in the "bar/lounge" which was all organic and very delicious. The continental breakfast was a nice extra as well.

I loved how the hotel was "green" with environmentally preffered policies, like not changing linens every day (I mean, who does that at home?!) and recycling opportunities throughout the hotel. However I do wish they had a recycle bin in the living room for the plastic water bottles.

Not a place to go if you want to swim (no pool or hot tub) or dance the night away in their lounge (very small bar/restaurant area) but we aren't into that anyway!

We had mentioned it was my birthday at the lounge, and I even got a free birthday drink! Customer Service is excellent. This was a great hotel for the price. And pet-friendly too! I will definitely be back.

We love the Seattle area and travel there often. We needed a place near the airport for an early morning flight the next day. It was our anniversary so I didn't want a run-of-the-mill airport motel. The building is gorgeous. Location is convenient--if you plan to eat all meals at the lodge. The staff was aloof to the point of rude. We wanted a soft drink in our room and we were told we had to get it at the bar then offered to send it to our room. It never arrived! The next day when I ask why we could not have soft drinks in our room, the limo driver stated, "Our surveys of our clientele show that our patrons prefer HEALTHY snacks." (he did not deny the policy, nor did he apologize for our inconvenience!) The entire time we were there not one member of the staff was friendly. I kept feeling like we were not wearing the right labels. We ordered crab bisque--it was served from a small teapot-type container while the waiter mumbled about " presentation.+ The "crab" was one piece of crab balanced on a coil of leek. The bisques was poured ceremoniously around the coil of leek. COME ON! This is a LODGE, not the Whitehouse! " While we ate this lukewarm tomato soup, we were asked 4 times how it tasted! And there was nothing friendly about it. OH! and let's not forget our bar of soap--it had a hole in the center--the package said this was to eliminate the portion of the bar that is usually not used and wasted! Are you kidding me? How absolutely dumb! In one of the most beautiful areas of our country where people have for years been warm and friendly, we came away feeling like we had drifted into some strange planet of robotic idiocy. And to think we paid almost $200 for this!!

I chose to stay here because of high ratings on Tripadvisor. We needed a place to stay near the airport because of an early flight out the next morning. I usually hate staying in airport hotels because they are noisy, expensive, and too utilitarian. But Cedarbrook Lodge is none of these. You would never know you were anywhere near the airport if you couldn't just barely see the airport traffic control tower over the tops of the trees. This hotel is really more of a resort...beautiful grounds and buildings that blend in with the landscaping and waterfalls. Also a very comfortable atmosphere--artwork, snacks, lounges, librairies, fitness room, etc. I could feel very at home there for days on end. It was quiet and very relaxing. It wasn't expensive, either! I was surprised at how reasonable the rates were, especially since they included free parking and internet, individual bathrobes, snacks & water bottles, newspaper, and complimentary breakfast (served in a beautiful dining room!). The beds were very comfortable--I had a great night's sleep. And this may be a silly detail to acknowledge, but I loved the throws on the end of the beds--not just a fake strip of bedspread to complete the decor, but a full-sized soft sweater-type blanket that made curling up with a book just heavenly! We only stayed one night, but I'll be sure to stay again if I ever have the opportunity. It's a pleasure to recommend Cedarbrook!

With the TripAdvisor Consumer Rating of the number 1 place to stay in the United States we could not turn down an opportunity to go away for a Birthday weekend. Arriving late we arrived tired and hungry. The setting is lovely. It is hard to believe you are in the city. The lodge is surrounded by greenspace. Our ground room floor looked out to beautiful landscape. The room is very comfortable with lush bedding and a down filled chair. On the built in desk area was the most welcoming plate of artisan cheeses, grapes, toast points, dates, and other goodies. Delicious! This pet friendly hotel had dog treats in the room as well. There are 3 buildings. Each building has a "living room" on the second floor. It is stocked with all sorts of wonderful treats available 24/7. The complimentary breakfast was filled with local treats such as smoked salmon, steel cut oatmeal, bagels, and salami made in the area. I will not stay anywhere else!

Wonderful ambience, very quiet and peaceful, and the atmosphere enfolds you. I had a wonderful one night stay - sorry to leave! The breakfast buffet was beautifully laid out & delicious. The dining area was spacious & upscale. Overall a perfect lodging experience.
