If someone wanted to see a model of how a campground should be designed, this is it. The campsites are large, level, private, spread apart, and away from busy roads. There is also a playground and the park has clean restrooms with an ample number of showers. It's a short walk down to the very scenic day use area, which has a great view across Hood Canal to the Olympics, hence the name of the park.
The park is clean, well-maintained, and quiet. When we camped there, we drove over to Bremerton and walked on the ferry to Seattle, where we explored Pike Place Market and the Klondike Gold Rush Museum. There are other things to see and do in the area, but we ran out of time. So if you are looking for a relaxing getaway on the Kitsap Peninsula, look no further!
