“Solid Vietnamese food, worth a try!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2014

Seems that in a sea of local "regular" Pho places, Papaya is quite refreshing.
But Pho is not all that is enjoyable about this restaurant. The sandwiches are a tasty big lunch, with quite good yam fries! My favorite is the Honey Sesame Chicken baguette, but really all are very good.
There are only two reasons why this place is not a "5" in my book.
The food comes at different times to your table, always has after two years of going there...sometimes a little annoying, balancing being rude to your fellow guests v. Diving in to your currently hot meal. Or waiting for your food to show. Don't understand why they can't quite fix that.
The second reason is the peanut sauce for the fresh rolls seems a bit thin...but maybe that is a personal preference. Hasn't quite stopped me from ordering the fresh tasty rolls, so maybe I'm just a little picky here...
Both minor items haven't stopped me from being a regular there...so maybe I need another cup of coffee this morning.
The Pho choices are very good, make sure to ask for the spice tray (sometimes they forget to bring it) and maybe, as I do, extra noodles (a buck or two more) that add even more flavor to your yummy broth.
In the huge choice of typical American style restaurants at The Landing you just can't go wrong with Papaya.

“Very fresh tasting food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2013

This restaurant is usually busy but the service and food prep seems to go very fast. The waitress was knowledgeable enough to make recommendations to avoid my food allergies. She also told us to split one of the entrees as it would be big enough for two (the big pancake with the two meats--pork and shrimp) and veggies that you fold inside of lettuce wraps. This was a great suggestion as the food was delicious, fresh tasting, and filling. We had this with a side of the yam fries, and a glass each of pinot noir. I'd eat here again the next time I'm in town.

“Food just ok”

Great location. Clean and well lit. Safe, busy neighborhood with a lot of choices. The food choices were "the usual" Nice combos offered, but overall, have had much better elsewhere.

“Fast...... maybe too fast!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2013

Myself and two business partners went to dinner on a Wednesday evening. Located in The Landing shopping center in Renton (near a Boeing assembly plant) the Papaya Vietnamese area was very busy and and the free parking was tight this night. The restaurant was about 1/2 full when we arrived around 5:30pm. We were promptly greeted. We asked to be seated in the small outside dining area. Menus and water were provided as we sat. The waitress was very helpful in answering questions. We ordered three fresh spring rolls and fried yams to share as an appetizer. Each of us ordered a different entree: Savory crepe (bánh xèo) filled with shrimp, pork, bean sprouts or tofu, & enoki mushroom; Chicken ginger phở, and Shrimp & green papaya salad, soy dressing. The menu had a nice selection of beer, a few wine choices, specialty tea drinks, and the usual sodas, regular tea, coffee drinks. Within 5 minutes our spring rolls, fried yams, and beverages arrives. The spring rolls were very good. The yams average (think sweet potato fries). We had barely started the appetizers when the main courses showed up. Our poor little table was jammed with food. This was the only down side to the meal. Too bad the kitchen/waitress didn't pace the courses better. Overall very good food. Big filling portions. Worth a visit if you are in the area. With so many great Vietnamese restaurants in the Seattle area, I wouldn't drive out of my way to go. Another Papaya Vietnamese Cafe is located in Bellevue. Menu is on line. Cost per person with an appetizer, beer, & main course would run between $20-$25. Tip extra.

“Great food and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2013

We love Papaya. I'm ashamed to say that last winter I would order take out at least twice a week. It wasn't uncommon for the person answering to say "Hi Sarah, would you like your usual?". The pho is great, the rice dishes are great, spring rolls are great and the iced coffee is amazing. We stop by often in the summer just for the coffee. The people are always friendly and efficient and it's clean. Can't go wrong with Papaya!
