“Mediocre But Reasonably Priced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2013

This place was very disappointing. The picture is somewhat deceiving. We found the place somewhat neglected with piles of "stuff" in the living room. The host was very friendly and did most of his work with a small but fairly well behaved child on his back. The furniture is of poor quality. The entry has enormous steps that are difficult to negotiate carrying luggage. Rooms are upstairs. There was no cleaning or straightening the beds even though we stayed for two nights. The town is tiny with few restaurants. Hampton does feature a gluton free breakfast and the food was good. There was no TV and a very small boom box for CDs. I probably would not stay in this place again.

Room Tip: While we were there another couple also spent the night. They left in the morning and their room w...

Thank you so much to our guest for this review. We'll make some adjustments to our service based on what was said. We do ask every guest if they need fresh linens or towels. If they say no, we don't enter their room for any other reason. We believe our guests' room are their private space. We are not a hotel.

During the three summers we've had the pleasure of sharing this retreat with travelers, I've come to realize that folks arrive with one of two mind sets. Either our guests arrive expecting a good vacation to be packaged and handed to them, or they arrive already enjoying the adventure of travel. I see my job as providing a clean, safe, comfortable haven where good food is real food and good entertainment consists of real conversations, losing count of the stars as they appear over the mountains, or spending quality time with someone you love. Once a guest checks in, all they need to do is indulge in one (or more!) of those three things. One needn't worry when their neighbor's room will be cleaned. And while the furniture isn't new, it won't break while you enjoy life here.

Thank you to each of our guests for sharing this home and the pleasures of our beautiful valley with us.

Frankly ... we don't frequent B&Bs very often, but this one seemed to be in the perfect location for us. Calvin was a delightful host, the room was clean and the breakfast healthy and tasty. Even the proprietors' daughter was delightful. A couple of home made cookies, fiber bars and some fruit were a nice touch waiting for us in the room.

The Inn could use some landscaping, and there is no A/C, but the nights in remote Washington are pretty cool, and the ceiling fan did the trick. Waking up to the sound of the pitter patter of little feet brought back some nice memories.

A heartfelt thanks to this guest for the review. We agree - the inn could use some more landscaping! It's definitely a work in progress.

The location between Mt. Ranier and Mt. St. Helens was perfect for our trip through volcano country on our way to the Oregon and Washington coast. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the breakfast was very good. The lady who didn't like the place is very clueless, obviously nothing is good enough for her, LOL! The house may be old, but it is well kept and overall a very nice place to stay.

I don't understand the favorable reviews of this place! It is an old house, the room was musty, and it was VERY HOT! No A/C in the house. It is in the middle of nowhere and has not views, charm or even treres. We forfeited our payment for the night and went to a plain but adequate motel in Morton which had A/C.

Room Tip: There are none.

We're very sorry this traveler didn't have a favorable experience at our bed and breakfast. This is the first comment we've received in person or in a review that one of our rooms seemed musty. While our property is "old", we consistently hear from our guests how clean and comfortable it is.

While we don't offer AC because of the age of the house, we take every measure possible to ensure our guests' comfort. Our house is shaded by large oak trees. We ventilate the house during the evening and early morning. Two of our three rooms are equipped with ceiling fans. Guests have mentioned to me they are surprised we don't have AC because it is much cooler indoors than out.

If guests express concerns about their reservations prior to their arrival (as I remember this guest doing), we make every effort to be honest and upfront about the amenities of their room and our local weather conditions so that guests can make a informed decision. While we welcome every review and take every comment to heart, we wish this traveler would have stayed and experienced the service the other reviewers on Trip Advisor have left reviews about.

We booked this place on the way to the Oregon coast as we wanted to see Mt. St. Helens. Randle gives you access to view the mountain from the east side which is the best. On arrival, we were greeted and given some iced tea after being escorted to our room. The Silverbrook room has a claw foot tub, old West style and a comfortable bed. The sink and toilet area could use a little space management. There is a bulky medicine chest over a tiny sink and the sink is hard to use. A flat mirror on the wall would have been a better use of the room.

It is a peaceful setting and the breakfast was tasty and interesting. I had the lemon lavender souffle with real whipped cream. It was light and delicious. I also had steel cut oats with blueberries. Coffee was made french press style and was a perfect caffeine start to the day.

There are children living with the hosts and they were a lot of fun. The toddler dangled on the back of dad while he prepared and served us breakfast. A six plus daughter was charming and conversant with me after breakfast. There are chickens pecking around the grass in the early evening and that was fun to watch. The deer come on the property to eat the apples.

You can sit on the porch, in the downstairs coffee shop or up in a small parlor. No TV (fine with us!) and a great B and B to read a book and relax.

Hampton Creek Inn is a well situated B&B in a spacious farm like setting. Delightfully tasty breakfasts prepared from fresh organic ingredients and produce. The Victorian room decor is nicely done, not overdone. Nice bedding and bathrobes too. We had a very pleasant stay.

The town of Randle has very limited food options but the local grill has pretty good steak. Stay away from the tacos...

We loved staying here on our October fall foliage visit to Mt Rainier and Mt St Helens. Our room contained everything we needed; a comfy bed, plush bathrobes and homemade cookies. Breakfast was a treat, and made to order from organic ingredients. You can choose to have breakfast delivered to your room; a luxury! An upstairs sitting room allowed us to read and catch up on emails in the evening. All in all, a great stay and we hope to return someday to explore the area further.
