“Beware--Seniors penalized for cancelling”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

Just so people know, if you book a senior rate, you must cancel more than 72 hours in advance to get your partial refund. If you are a "young" person you are allowed to cancel up to 24 hours in advance. Sorry that this lodging penalizes seniors. Don't know any other lodging situation where there is a difference in cancellation policies if you are a senior--especially a penalizing policy. Needless to say, I have no other review as we did not stay there....and because of this policy we will think twice about booking any advance reservation there.

I picked this destination for our anniversary and we could not have been happier. Not only did the weather cooperate (no rain in the rain forest) but the hotel delivered on all fronts--scenery, service, food, ambiance. A perfectly relaxing retreat!

Room Tip: We enjoyed the fireplace rooms with lake view, connected to the lodge by a causeway.

Green Features: Hotel very conscientious about sustainable practices.

Not sure which was better, my room, the grounds, or the hiking trails. All three made for a great 1 night escape. I was on the ground floor of the lake view building. Nice view. Trails just outside the patio. Nice indoor pool. Beautiful lobby area in the lodge. Many choices for room types, but not a single bad one. Even the pet-friendly building is a nice one. I look forward to returning.

Room Tip: All rooms/buildings are good choices. The lodge being the most authentic, but I loved my lake view...

We arrived at the lodge on a sunny afternoon in September and immediately ran out onto the back lawn, where the view had me exclaiming, "oh my God, oh my God," over and over again! It was just as beautiful in the rain the next day. The Lakeside rooms were perfectly comfy and offered a small balcony overlooking the lake. All staff members were exceedingly helpful and friendly--5-star resort caliber service. So many jaw-droppingly amazing hikes right outside our door, plus swimming pool, pool table, lawn games, etc. Two days was not enough--we could have happily stayed a week.

We spent three nights in September 2013 with our two mutts. The "boat house" is dog friendly and I think some of the best rooms in the lodge. I really can't tell you how much I like this lodge. There is a peaceful, tranquil, feeling throughout the area. Old growth rain forest surround the still waters of the lake. The rooms are clearly from an classic National Forest/National Park lodge. The food is excellent! The staff is helpful and friendly. I would recommend this lodge to everyone.

Room Tip: Make sure you have a view of the lake.

We spent two nights at the Quinault Lake Lodge on September 15 and 16th. Everything was lovely. Our room upstairs in the Fireplace Rooms was spacious and comfortable, with a large deck where we could sit on the big chairs overlooking the lake. Gorgeous. The facilities were great: there were games on the lawn, games inside and a heated pool, a huge living room with the massive fireplace and many comfortable couches, the little beach, and a nice gift shop. We ate breakfast in the dining room each day, and enjoyed sitting by the big windows overlooking the green lawn and lake with the mountains in the background.

We absolutely loved and HIGHLY recommend taking the rain forest tour with Charlie, our guide. We learned more than we could have imagined on this tour and felt it gave us a real in depth view of the unique features of the temperate rain forest. Visiting the rain forest was a long awaited dream and we were not disappointed. This tour was the most important activity we did this whole trip.

I would like to thank the staff of the lodge who accommodated and sympathized so well with me when I became ill and had to leave a day early to get some medical help. All is well now but when I needed to go get some help, the staff was very cooperative.

I would go back to the lodge in a minute. We loved our stay at the Quinault Lake Lodge. And we loved feeling like we were part of history as we walked around this magnificent site and looked at the photos on the walls!

Room Tip: There are four choices....1. rooms inside the lodge itself, furnished as they were decades ago, but...

This was our first stay at the Lake Quinault Lodge and we were not disappointed. The setting was stunning overlooking the lake and the nearby mountains. While arriving in the normal cloudy wet weather, we were pleasantly surprised that the clouds turned to sun and the afternoon was glorious and we were rewarded with a spectacular sunset! We took time to hike some and see the world's largest Sitka Spruce just a mile down the road. There were other points of interest to include driving the over 30-mile loop around the lake. The rooms were comfortable and well appointed. My only issue was listening to some of the sidebar conversations occurring on the outside patio. Our room was the nearest to the chatter but the noise dissipated by ten o'clock. I am sure on rainy days, that is not an issue. The lodge had a huge fireplace with a huge elk head peering at us. The fireplace area was so inviting, especially during inclement weather. We enjoyed sitting in the comfortable couches, talking, drinking and enjoying the warmth of the fireplace and overall lodge. The breakfast and dinner were outstanding as well. The service was spot-on and staff quite friendly. The chef certainly should be commended for providing a wide variety of entrees ranging from salmon to steak. The meals were delicious and the food preparation was also outstanding. This lodge is the quintessential lodge with all you would expect it to offer. I would highly recommend this lodge for those travelers who appreciate a beautiful setting, great food and a wilderness feeling. It is indeed a great lodge in the Pacific Northwest.

Room Tip: If you are booking for a room on the first floor of the lodge, try to stay further down the hallway...

Green Features: The lodge is certainly very environmentally friendly as it should be.
