We arrived in Port Townsend in the early evening. After booking into a hotel and wandering around downtown, we stopped into a heritage hotel lobby and asked for a recommendation of a good restaurant - "The Fountain" was suggested - we followed a set of stairs (in the dark!) to an upper street, and it was so worth it! We had no trouble getting a table, probably because it was after the dinner rush. It's a funky little restaurant, wonderful jazzy music playing, lots of interesting things to look at. I ordered the chicken marsala - one of the best meals I've ever had! My husband ordered chicken linguine and was also very happy with his choice. He drank a local Port Townsend beer; I ordered a British cider. The service was second to none.
