“1980 called, they'd like their motel back”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2013

Stayed here with 2 young kids because we were looking for something affordable. This place is a very basic motel and is in dire need of an update. The lobby is nice but the only thing updated in the rooms in 30 years is a curved shower curtain rod and the electronic key system. The non-smoking room smelled like old man BO, so much so that we asked for another room and that one (also on the 1st floor) smelled just as bad so we didn't move. (It was clear we weren't the first people to complain about the odor because the woman at the desk offered to run a ionizer in the room while we were out to dinner and stated, "That usually helps." It didn't.) Maybe it's a first floor thing as they don't allow pets on floors 2 and 3. The large but old tube TV had a huge scratch in the screen, there was an old dark water stain on the bathroom ceiling that looked like it could have been moldy at one time, and we found a takeout container of ranch dressing under one of the beds.

The rooms were large, harbor view is nice, it is very quiet, and the outdoor pool was warm (our 5 yr old enjoyed swiming in it). The hot tub and 1st floor ice machine were broken and the free Wi-Fi only worked in the lobby. The continental breakfast had a nice selection but was nothing to write home about.

Though the staff was nice, I wouldn't stay here again nor recommend it simply based on the smelly rooms. We are back home now and washing everything we had in the suitcase.

We really enjoyed our stay at Harborside Inn in Port Townsend. We had a view of the water and there was a nicely heated pool. It's across from a plant nursery too which is nice for browsing and close to a Safeway grocery for stocking up on snacks (we used the fridge and microwave in the room). Great value and kids had a good time. Recommended!

Room Tip: Only $10 more to get the top floor with the best views of the marina and water. AAA or AARP discount...

My husband and I were traveling for business and we were looking for a reasonably priced, clean, quiet, no-frills, but good sleep and complementary breakfast place to stay. The Harborside Inn fit the bill and, for the most part, we were not disappointed. When we arrived we were greeted nicely and given our wi-fi password with our room keys. Check-in was brief and we were on our way to our room on the 3rd floor at the very end of the building. The decor is dated (1990's), but that's OK, Though the room smelled a little stuffy, like some hotels rooms do, it was clean and furnished with an iron, hair dryer and a place to work. The king size bed was fairly comfortable and we had a nice view of the marina. The dress shirt was ironed and we logged onto their wi-fi to do some work. The complimentary breakfast offered fruit, cold and hot cereals, toast, bagels, muffins and other sweets as well as juice and coffee. The only negatives we experienced was that the wi-fi quit working later that evening so I had to use my cell phone as a mobile hotspot and a small spider was on my husband's towel in the morning. Both issues were resolved quickly.

Room Tip: There is an elevator so choose a top floor room for better a view and a quieter stay without worryin...

My wife booked the rooms before we read the reviews and we almost changed our reservations.
There is nothing wrong with this motel. The front desk service was very friendly and helpful (we moved from the first floor to the third floor to get a view). The rooms were clean and well appointed. There was a slight odor when we first checked in but that quickly became unnoticable. The bed was very comfortable but I would bring my own pillow. The only suggestion I have is that when reservations are made they should tell you that the good harbor views are from the second and third floors and each costs $10 more that the ground floor. I would stay there again

Room Tip: If you like looking at the harbor pay the extra money for the second or third floor.

The inn overlooks the marina and sound, but the rooms are average. We did like the balcony with seats. The inn is only 1/2 mile from the very cute little town. We recommend the Nifty 50's Soda Fountain for good food and a fun time (in down town). The free continental breakfast was not much for the price of the hotel, but it held us over until lunch

We were on the road and stopped late. The room was big, pleasant and clean. That was all I needed. Staff was pleasant and had an awesome breakfast in the front sitting area. My large room was close to the front desk, and I think it was for handicapped access. I would stay again.

We recently stayed at this motel. We were travelling through Port Townsend on our way home and decided we really wanted to spend a night in such a lovely little town. On the advice of the friendly Visitor Information centre we went to the Harborside Inn. It is an older motel but is very clean and well kept and great value with the AAA rate! The view from our third floor room was lovely. We looked right over the marina and we enjoyed sitting on our deck and watching the boats and the lovely scenery. The location was very quiet but handy for town. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a lovely breakfast in the morning and really felt we got great value for the money.
