“No frills.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

If you just want a place to sleep with a view out the window that may or may not be scenic depending on the weather, then this place will probably be fine for you. The office closes at 9pm so make sure you have enough towels and get your wifi code and anything else that you need before then. Despite my maid service sign hanging on the door all day my room wasn't cleaned and when it was, the next day, towels weren't replaced, my jewelry case had clearly been knocked over (jewelry all jumbled up inside), I received no clean cups and the sink had the same sand in it from the morning when I'd rinsed out a sea shell. The flatscreen is medium sized with a minimum of channels. Even more minimal were the breakfast offerings. It's a very bland, dated, rather out of the way place, though the hole-in-the-wall shack that served fish and chips just down the beach, a short walk away, were excellent. The grounds of the motel were very unkempt with junk here and there -- literally, abandoned vehicle parts - perhaps belonging to next door, but a part of the landscape and impression of the motel.

Room Tip: The rooms with a view are just windows - not entrances to the beach. The microwave is very old and i...

We spent one night with family of 4 at Aladdin Motor Inn and we had a very good stay. The room was big, confortable and clean, the staff very welcoming. Breakfast was available in the hotel lobby and self service. Parking obviously was not a problem.
And the view was just magic..... Even if the weather during our stay was not great, it was just fantastic to be able to look out at the bay.

Room Tip: A room with a view is essential!

Had a wonderful night at the Aladdin. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Large flatscreen TV with Cable worked just fine. Rooms have been updated in a tasteful motif. They allow pets and this worked just fine. Pet fees were very reasonable. We will stay at the Aladdin again. There is a really good BBQ restaurant across the street - Dos Okies.

Room Tip: They have a light breakfast included.

The room was clean and comfy and had a great view, with seals and dolphins and numerous birds. Fridge and microwave and coffee maker (not too hot but heat up in microwave!)
Breakfast was self service in the hotel lobby to take back to your room, juice, cereal, toast or pastry, yoghurt, fruit and tea/coffee. Several restaurants within walking distance. Would recommend this hotel

Port Townsend is a fun little town to visit. However it is not cheap. So, you do what you can, to save a buck. I decided to stay here instead of one of the small B&Bs. I was pleasantly surprised. Room was clean. Had clean coffee maker with local coffee. Had microwave and fridge. Flat screen tv with 35 channels. Breakfast.
Overall, a good night's rest.
I was satisfied with my stay.

Finding quality lodging for a good price is a game we play in our travels. Finding a good price on a festival weekend in a scenic town? Good luck.

Having said that, we found the Aladdin. If you are looking for a gem, keep looking. This property does offer a good, clean room, nice bedding, with a mini-fridge, microwave, and a balcony to watch the boat traffic to/from the local marina (on floors 2 & 3, anyway). This is waterfront property, there is a small beach with easy access, but is also adjacent to working waterfront - make sure you ask for a "water view" room. Front desk person was friendly, with a sense of humor (always a plus in my book).

It is a long walk into Downtown (or Uptown) Port Townsend, and there are limited restaurant facilities close by. What there is, isn't bad. An Indian (East Indies, that is) restaurant is across the street, as is a pretty good BBQ place (Dos Okies), as well as a couple of brewpubs (Port Townsend Brewing, and The Pourhouse. Otherwise, get in the car and drive the mile into town for some good restaurant choices.

The Aladdin offers breakfast. Not much, breads, juice, coffee, instant oatmeal. The person at the front desk recommended the Spruce Goose Café for a good breakfast (a few miles SW of town at the Jefferson County Airport). We didn't go, but we have eaten there before and it is worth the effort to go there.

The only real complaint would be the that the building itself is constructed so that every last squeaky footstep and movement of the nearby occupants can be clearly heard.
Our room definitely had some updating done recently (bathroom, flat-screen TV, appliances); other parts of the room were dated, but this did not (nor should it) detract from the overall quality of the room. Old-school "keys" instead of "keycards" - actually a bit nostalgic!
Would I stay here again? Quite possibly, but only after I look harder for something better.

Room Tip: Ask for "Water View". Otherwise your view will be of the old dock buildings next door.

We booked this room for our kids on a business trip. When asked one of them gave it a 2 star, the other one a 3 star overall. When they got there she text me to say it was kind of scary! I thought, oh no, what did I do? She informed me that the door had looked like someone had crowbarred the door to get in and so they took all their valuables with them while they went to eat dinner out. The shower curtain had mold on the bottom and so she wouldn't take a shower there. The pillows were super flat and worthless. The bed was decent. The view from their room was amazing. They enjoyed a walk on the beach the next morning. They didn't eat at the breakfast but said it was pretty basic with muffins and pastries. Not sure our company will book this hotel next time.
