“Don't stay here if you have dustmite allergies”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2011

Port Townsend is nice and the location of the hotel is fine, but I think the carpets were still original from Victorian times and very, very dusty. I suffered badly from allergies, and was glad we only stayed one night.

We’re sorry to hear that your allergies were aggravated during your stay here. Although, our décor may be antique in style, it is upheld to modern cleaning standards. All of our rooms and common areas are serviced by our housekeeping staff daily. However, in light of your difficulties we will now review our housekeeping policies and see if we can add more hypo-allergenic cleaning procedures to our repertoire.

We greatly appreciate your business and thank you for your comments.

Sincerely,
The Bishop Victorian Innkeepers

This hotel was great! We arrived in Port Townsend on a Tuesday afternoon at the end of May and had not booked anywhere to stay. We stopped at the Visitor Info Centre and they gave us lots of suggestions for accommodation but said the Bishop was probably the best choice. We arrived at the hotel and the lady at the front desk was very nice and helpful. She said there were three rooms available so she gave us the prices and the keys and let us check out the rooms before we made a choice. We ended up choosing #18, corner room, king size bed, great room! All the rooms are suites with kitchens, HD tv and Internet hook up. She even gave us a deal because it was mid week! The location of the hotel was perfect, a block off the main street so it was quiet but close to lots of great places to eat and shop. We had a great stay here and wish we could have stayed longer, we will be back for sure!

The ambiance matches that of Port Townsend perfectly. Victorian style decor in comfortable little suites was a great place to rest after walking all over the great town of Port Townsend. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was delivered in a little basket with our selection of continental breakfast style choices. The location was fantastic for exploring. We enjoyed dinner at the nearby Silverwater Cafe which was delicious.

My college age son stayed one night after spending time in Olympic Park. It was a treat staying in such a lovely place. I had the most comfortable bed on my entire trip and it was nice for my son to have a pull out couch where he could watch TV without disturbing me. If I were in the area again, I would definitely stay there again! Cost similar to places that were not as nice in Port Angeles and Forks.

This is a true Victorian Hotel, one street back from the main street and waterfront of town. Midweek nights in April are quiet. The gas fireplace was on when we entered, but excellent cross-ventilation from opened windows got the temperature to our liking. The bed was huge and the bath was clean and modern. The kitchenette had a fridge, sink and microwave. The two flights of stairs were steep and the stair carpet was somewhat worn. ADA accommodations were not obvious, so enquire when checking on a reservation. Restaurants and all of downtown are within walking distance, but something like a grocery is 1/2 mile away. Access to fitness center.

This was an overnight stop on our way to Seattle and we were very happy we paused here! The hotel has the perfect ambiance to reflect the small town feel of Port Townsend. In an old cigar factory, it has been updated to provide comfort with a kitchenette and a modern and very clean bathroom. Nice touches throughout, we found it very cozy and comfortable. We had a one bedroom suite on the third floor for our family of four which was certainly adequate but don't expect "spacious"...it is in an old building, after all! The staff was wonderful and provided a very nice breakfast basket which others have mentioned. One warning: if you are on the third floor, try to travel light...I think I remember counting 48 steps on the way up...but it was worth the exercise!

Thank you for taking the time to check out our hotel during your stop in Port Townsend. We’re glad you enjoyed the unique character of our hotel, with its mix of old-world ambiance and modern amenities. During your next stay with us, in order to avoid using the Victorian era grand staircase, perhaps one of the two ground-floor suites would suit you best. Also, our sister hotel The Swan, located two blocks North of the Bishop Victorian, has four studio rooms and four cozy cottages located on the ground floor that may meet your needs as well.

Hope to see you again soon!

When visiting Port Townsend, there are a number of historic hotels. What that means is that the rooms are on the second and third floors which requires carrying luggage up several steps. Travelers with bad legs or bad hearts may want to avoid climbing so many steps. We found the Bishop Victorian Hotel to be cozy with a very friendly staff/owner. The location is in the heart of Port Townsend which made it very convenient to go shopping . We stayed in Room 11 on the second floor which consisted of a sitting room with a kitchette, bedroom and a bathroom. The bedroom was sparse, but the sitting room was tastefully decorated. We will stay here again on future visits.
