“The PT Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2012

This theater must at all costs be preserved! It is an institution in itself, catering to a very informed clientele and showing quality movies, filmed plays and operas, and other special events. Worth the trip to PT from anywhere!

“The Pride of Port Townsend is this Gem of a Theater.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2012

Lovingly restored to its original elegance, this historic theater is a must-visit when in Port Townsend. The curtains on the walls are drawn back to reveal the painted murals protected behind them, and pulled closed as the movie is about to begin. Each film is personally introduced by a theater employee, usually revealing interesting bits of trivia about the film or the making of it. Vintage advertising, again original, is on the screen before you, until the curtain is rolled up and the magic begins.
Also, the Rose is known in town for its excellent popcorn with an array of seasonings and toppings you'll not see in theater chains.

“A great place to see movies, plays, symphonies”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2012

The Rose offers 2 venues -- the main theater and the Rose Bud which usually shows indie films. The Rose offers live simulcasts of the Met Opera, London Theater, etc.

“free tickets”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2012

It was a small friendly theatre. It was great not to be blasted out by loud commercials. Also nice to have a personal and informative introduction to the show.

“Best Theater in the Country!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2012

OK - I may be a little biased but I think the Rose is the best movie theater in the country! We live in a little town of 9,000 people but we get the best and newest movies around! We get Metropolitan Opera Broadcasts! We get broadcasts from the National Theater of London! We have a fabulous annual Film Festival that is centered at the Rose Theater! This gem is a true community center of our town and also has the best popcorn on the planet! Don't miss it if you are here for a visit!
