My wife and I wanted to get out of the city for a night to celebrate our first anniversary. We decided to head to Port Townsend (PT) as my wife had been there a few times when she was growing up. I tried looking online at quite a few hotels in PT, but many required a two-night stay, were already booked, or were too pricey. After feeling frustrated and beginning to think I wasn't going to find anything that would fit our taste and price range, I stumbled upon the Thornton House!
I called Charlie and Barb who were glad to accommodate us for the night. We booked the Garden Room after asking for their recommendation. When I mentioned that it was our first anniversary they let us know they were have a surprise waiting for us!
Upon arriving they had wine and cheese for us and gave us a nice tour of the B&B. Charlie and Barb were extremely accommodating and ensured that we felt comfortable and had everything we needed. The house was totally remodeled and the place had an older feel with modern luxuries. They put a lot of time and effort into restoring the property and it really shows! Charlie and Barb were great hosts and provided great suggestions on restaurants that the locals like to frequent. We wanted something low-key and they gave us plenty of options. We had a great time at dinner and when we returned they had a bottle of Champagne and chocolates waiting for us at no charge! What a nice surprise.
The next morning, coffee was waiting outside our door and we were able to enjoy it on the sunny patio outside of our room. Breakfast was excellent, a nice fruit plate to start along and Barb's Belgian Waffles and bacon to follow.
I could go into far more detail about how much we enjoyed our stay at the Thornton House, but it would take far more time than I have! Overall, we were really grateful to have such thoughtful hosts who were full of conversation and really wanted to ensure that we enjoyed our stay in PT!
