“Warm and welcoming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012 via mobile

This Victorian mansion provides a stately and comfortable base for exploring the many pleasures of Port Townsend. Warm and spacious rooms, fantastic freshly cooked breakfasts and lots of little human touches make this a wonderful place to stay. Thanks!

The house sits above the waterfront on the bluff that provides a stunningly beautiful panoramic view. The atmosphere, accommodations and hospitality at the inn are refreshing. It was easy to relax and read amidst the classical music and espresso machine in a sitting room/library among the rich ornate history and antiques. Each morning our taste buds were treated to a bouquet of savory cuisine both pleasing to the eye and palette! Cindy and Nathan played the part of our Victorian hosts with style and hospitality! A great relaxing stay for our 25th anniversary. We highly recommend the inn!

A wonderful 19th century stately home down from the County Court House looking out to sea.
The current owners have been in charge for just over a year and Cindy's enthusiasm was immense. She gave us a very interesting talk on the history of the area and the building.
We had the cheapest room on the second floor but it was nicely furnished in period style.
There was a quirky feature of the shower cubicle, exclusive, behind outside the bedroom.
We were able to view the other bedrooms and, apart from being bigger and all wih ensuites, several had wonderful sea views.
Breakfast was a revelation with a wonderful three course spread provided.
There was an espresso coffee machine with self service coffee and tea always.avaialable
We do not often give five star ratings but believe that this B &B deserves the accolade.
Overall, this is a very good B&B

We do not often give five star ratings but this B &B ticks all the right boxes - apart from a possible problem with the stairs for older people.

This rather new (new management, old inn) is charming and cozy, the quintessential victorian inn. As with many B and Bs, you will not escape from this inn without learning in-depth the history given on a person tour by the owners, who were dressed in 19th century costume for much of our stay. They are perhaps a bit disorganized, having double booked my room with another guest causing distress to both parties (we had to spend an hour in town after a long car ride waiting for our room, the other folks were kicked out...). The breakfast was large and accommodating to a variety of diets. Very good make-yourself espresso machine. It's definitely the type of B & B where everyone is very chatty at the breakfast table. If you are looking for Port Townsend, dollhouse-esque Victorian B & B this is your place. Rooms were clean. Turn down every afternoon. Would recommend confirming your reservation.

Room Tip: Some rooms are much larger than others-- would recommend a spacious one. Some rooms are small and cr...

Actually, in 2.5 years of ownership and thousands of reservations, this double booking has only happened this once because we ARE impeccably organized and truly meticulous about bookings! (We tried using Booking.com for 6 months and had to let it go because the chance for a double booking, no matter how slight, was keeping me up at night. Literally). And the guests who booked at the last minute were not 'kicked out'... we found them other accommodations and we paid the difference in price. And please believe me when I say that your distress was, had to be, substantially less than ours - for us it was a nightmare. It is interesting that both you and the other party met that evening in a pub, unknowing until you started discussing your stories.... Life.

This is a great B and B. Lots of history to the place and the owners really know their stuff. Comfortable and private quarters with plenty of common space to spread out even more. They have menus of all the spots in town and make great reccomendations for activities. But the best part is breakfast. Multiple course each more innovative and delicious than the last. They even accommodated me as a vegan!! Hands down, you can't go wrong with this B and B.

Exquisite attention to detail made this an extraordinary and elegant experience. From the mouth-watering 3-course breakfast at the massive dining room table to the billiards room and library, every part of the experience is enchanting.

A very comfortable bed with a lovely view of the water. Unscented bath products, a coffeemaker that brews a delicious, special blend with one touch, a piano and instrument collection that captured my fancy, and turn down service with the most delicious local truffles.

I'd highly recommend this B&B for a romantic getaway, a refreshing personal retreat, or the perfect place to stay should you find yourself in Port Townsend.

I can't wait to go back. Will have to wear one of my corsets next time. :)

This is a lovely B&B and the owners take special steps to give excellent service. The Inn’s 3-course breakfasts are delicious and there are tasty chocolate chip cookies at the end of the day. The Inn’s location is on a bluff across the street from the magnificent County Courthouse and within walking distance of the town center and ferry. The owners take the time to provide you with an interesting history of the inn and Port Townsend, plus the staff dresses in period costumes to carry out the feel of the original period of house. We were in the Master Suite with views of the harbor and a delightful sitting area that was just perfect for enjoying a book or a glass of wine at the end of the day. My husband and I both loved this room and the Old Consulate Inn in general. It is a wonderful place to stay.
