A beautifully restored Victorian buildling with period rooms and beautiful old furniture. We got to look around at the open rooms and pick our choice; we had Marie's room on the corner with lots of windows and a great big, dramatic bed. Some rooms we saw had little kitchen areas, ours included. I think we would have paid money just to nose around the building anyway, it's so interesting. Bathroom was also carefully redone in period style with a kicking heater (wow!). The second floor sititing area could be a little museum exhibit unto itself.

There is no elevator for the 3 floors but easy, wide, dramatic staircase. No phones but who cares. New flat-screen tv in our room. Very clean. Pleasant staff.

Port Townsend is a fun, well-preserved place to visit. We had had a long driving day and were so pleasantly surprised and refreshed by the both the city and the hotel. Went on from here to Everett via ferry(s) and the Boeing plant tour. If you like planes, it is such a cool thing to see.

I just love Port Townsend! The Palace Hotel is a beautiful old building on the main street. We booked a room on the 3rd floor facing the front (with a view of the water). The inside of the hotel is a walk up. It is full of charm and history. One of those cool places that leave the doors to the vacant rooms open so you can peek. However, looking in the rooms (we stayed in #12), you start to notice the details from the 1980's remodel. For us the draw is the old building. A little kitchenette in the wall with cabinetry from the 1980's detracts from the ambience. In my opinion the rooms should be done more period (add crown molding, remove "remodel" details and revert back to rustic original). Dog friendly. A bit spendy (a slightly better look would make the price more in line). Most comfortable bed I've had in a long time (I hate mushy beds, I like support). Overall, I really did like it. I'd stay again.

My friend and I traveled to Port Townsend for a girl's getaway weekend and stayed at the Palace Hotel. I had done some research on places to stay in Port Townsend before we left and had read some reviews of the Palace Hotel that were not very good. When we arrived into town, we decided to take a look and liked it so much we decided to stay there. The hotel is really well restored, with gorgeous, fresh flowers in the lobby, plush carpeting and rich colors. They were having an open house or something so we were able to look at all the rooms and pick our favorite. We settled on Miss Kitty's room because it seemed to have the best light. It was huge corner room- must have been 15 foot high ceilings, windows lining both sides and in the bathroom as well, and a king size bed with plenty of pillows and soft sheets. The bathroom was huge and well appointed as well. In the common areas, there were lots of pretty seating areas with great details (lamps, paintings, plants). The staff (both front desk and housekeeping) were really friendly and hospitable. My friend and I were quite pleased we had found such a wonderful place.

This hotel is a classic Victorian in its original state. The decor is appropriate and gorgeous. Every room is gorgeous, even the smaller ones with less ammenities. There's even an old-style billiard-type room with tables to play chess, checkers, cards and a dining table that could comfortably accomodate eight.

The rooms vary greatly in size, desirable location, and ammenities. If you are looking for something romantic, private, or simply on the nicer end, ask for it when you book. They have rooms with clawfoot tubs, suites, and even a room with a jacuzzi. ALL rooms have a bed, nightstands, an armoir, lamps, curtains, and art to period. They also all contain a small refrigerator, a coffee pot, coffee, tea, sugar, cream, utensils, 2 ice trays, flatware, and drinking glasses.

The staff is incredibly helpful and most are quite friendly. They will accomodate you to the fullest extent of their ability, providing you with wine glasses, extra blankets, robes, drinking glasses glasses, assist you with your luggage, etc.

This hotel can either be a very romantic hotel or just a beautiful place to stay a night while in town, depending upon your room selection.

The ONLY complaint I have about this hotel is that, during my 4 night stay, the hotel's housekeeping staff didn't vacuum, replace coffee/tea, change the linens, make the bed, or even replace used towels left on the floor.
