“The Best Restaurant In Port Townsend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2010

My husband works in Port Townsend, my favourite yarn and bead shops are here, and I enjoy visiting this lovely and historic town as often as possible. I've been to virtually all of the restaurants at one time or another. Hanazono Noodle is, in my opinion, the best of the lot! If you enjoy authentic sushi, you will find neither a more exhaustive selection nor better price on the Olympic Peninsula. More importantly, the sushi is unbelievably fresh, incredibly delectable, and beautifully presented (I would recommend the Taylor St. Roll above all others, but they're all wonderful!)--quite literally the best I've had anywhere. The tempura is delicate and perfectly cooked, the noodles and soups amazing, and even the salad dressing is something to behold. If you want to sample a selection of their offerings at once, I would highly recommend their Bento Lunch. In it you receive tempura, salad, miso soup, and a sushi roll (a relatively simple roll is included in the basic bento, but you can, for a slightly higher price, substitute any roll on the menu). The restaurant itself is small and charming, and located next to the historic Rose Theatre, within easy walking distance to most of the best shopping and historic sites. Service can be a little slow, so plan to spend some time here, sit back with a pot of tea, chat and people watch until your meal arrives. It's a relaxing and fun experience, and the food is more than worth the wait!

“Wonderful food, moderate prices”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2010

We've eaten here twice. The food is delicious -- Japanese, with very clear tastes and exquisite presentation. It's way better than typical low-end Japanese restaurants.

There are enough vegetarian dishes to keep me happy. In particular, the veggie soba is excellent. My wife likes the chicken and fish.

Servings are large, and prices are moderate.

Have a good time!

“Great food at a reasonable price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2010

We stopped at Hanazono's for appetizers based on the reviews on TripAdvisor and we were not disappointed. The Zen Roll was creative and excellent for only $6. We've eaten there 3 times in the last 2 weeks and every meal has been wonderful. The only average dish was the Vegetable DonBuri which just needed more seasoning. Plenty of vegetarian options which I appreciated. Outside seating isn't fancy, but nice when the weather is good since the restaurant is small.

“Consistently awesome.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2009

This place is amazing, and always worth a visit. The food is absolutely delicious, the service always terrific, and the atmosphere nice for lunch. It's tough to order anything lo-cal on the menu, but wow, what a great place to go for Asian comfort food. Highly recommended.
