My husband works in Port Townsend, my favourite yarn and bead shops are here, and I enjoy visiting this lovely and historic town as often as possible. I've been to virtually all of the restaurants at one time or another. Hanazono Noodle is, in my opinion, the best of the lot! If you enjoy authentic sushi, you will find neither a more exhaustive selection nor better price on the Olympic Peninsula. More importantly, the sushi is unbelievably fresh, incredibly delectable, and beautifully presented (I would recommend the Taylor St. Roll above all others, but they're all wonderful!)--quite literally the best I've had anywhere. The tempura is delicate and perfectly cooked, the noodles and soups amazing, and even the salad dressing is something to behold. If you want to sample a selection of their offerings at once, I would highly recommend their Bento Lunch. In it you receive tempura, salad, miso soup, and a sushi roll (a relatively simple roll is included in the basic bento, but you can, for a slightly higher price, substitute any roll on the menu). The restaurant itself is small and charming, and located next to the historic Rose Theatre, within easy walking distance to most of the best shopping and historic sites. Service can be a little slow, so plan to spend some time here, sit back with a pot of tea, chat and people watch until your meal arrives. It's a relaxing and fun experience, and the food is more than worth the wait!
