We had an amazing one-night stay at the Resort at Port Ludlow.
Everything was perfect: our room was clean, spacious and amazing views of the harbor and mountains. It also had a separate bedroom, living area, large bathroom and two porches, one on which we sat, drank wine, shucked oysters and watched the sunset. The bathroom had a wonderful soaking tub and supplied wonderfully aromatic bath salts which made the bath ever more relaxing.
The hotel staff was friendly, efficient and answer all of our random requests, even our request for an oyster knife so we could shuck oysters. We arrived early and though our room wasn't ready, they allowed us to check in - and then were very helpful in sending us in the right direction for some wine and cider tastings in nearby Chimacum and Port Townsend.
The restaurant was great. We did a small happy hour there on Saturday night - and then Sunday brunch. Sunday brunch was a little slow, and the porch was a little cold since the sun hadn't moved over to that side of the building. I was a little disheartened to hear that they had run out of orange juice for mimosas... and then even more discouraged when she told me that had run out of the quiche. In my mind, I told myself: "This is the one negative thing I'll put in the review." And I knew the waitress felt horrible. When she came back, she told us that she sent someone into town to get orange juice, and while there was nothing she could do about my quiche, the egg/ham/bacon/toast breakfast I got was great. Same with my fiancé's French toast.
Overall, quite the amazing 36 hours over on the Olympic Peninsula. And, with their amazing $129 deal (that came with $50 dining vouchers), we definitely got an amazing value on something that far exceeded our expectations. We will be back - and will be telling everyone we know about the resort.
We loved 301... but the bedroom was very light in the morning.
