We visit family in this small state capitol several times a year, and Annies is a must. Sort of funky atmosphere, perched above the water, dirt / gravel parking lot - not something tourists might normally pick. But the sailors, kayakers, and all other water-sport loving people have made this a favorite. Clam chowder (NE style) is the best ever ... and I've had it from Nova Scotia to CT. Rich, not overly creamy, filled with tender clams and potatoes that taste like potatoes - not some granular creation found in some chowders. A bowl of this well-seasoned delight, paired with a large Caesar salad (freshly shaved parmesan on top), makes a great meal.
Their salmon "burger" comes on a roll (it's actually the same filet you have on the dinner plate) and is quite a bargain. Haven't tried their whole menu, but you see a lot of happy faces.
