“The cookies are very good!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2012

There is no better soup than Matzo (or Matzah) Ball Soup; until you have a disappointing bowl at Kitzel's. I was so sad! It was cold on top of everything else wrong. Wonderful atmosphere; great service. My husband did not like anything about his sandwich; but the salt pickle was good. Some places have wonderful bakers; this is a place to enjoy dessert!

“Good cozy place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2012

Tuna melt is super yummy on most days! The atmosphere is great. I love the people that work here. A little pricey and they need to perhaps expand their menu but they are new to open and they are really aware of what people like and want. I hope this place sticks around.

“the only kosher place in Olympia”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2012

Probably the only kosher place in Olympia. This is a huge deli popular with everyone. In fact, they usually run out of things long before the day is over. If you are from a big city and long for some good corned beef this is the place. Service ranges from usually nice to really nasty. I sometimes wonder if they knew what they were getting themselves into. Like I said, just like the big city.

“Call Your Mother!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2012

And tell her you're eating well at Kitzel's. She'll be proud you remembered her and happy you are eating well.

You can get "east coast style" Jewish deli sandwiches, eastern-European-inspired sides/salads, imported Russian packaged foods, and hot prepared entrees (very good latkes and knish). Yes, Matildawitz, this is the real-deal. The food is good, and the staff are friendly. They are not as consistently "on it" and organized as they should be to help ensure longevity, but perhaps, in Olympia, they are at least average if not slightly above average in that regard. That is more a comment on how sad service can be in Olympia. Just don't expect butt-kissing, and you'll be fine. After all, only your mother thinks you deserve that from the world.

And speaking of your mother, CALL HER!!

“Average food with poor presentation”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2012

We went in January one morning and the food in the display cases had a lackluster appearance. They could not toast a bagel, which was only a minor annoyance, but the bagel also had too much of a spongy texture. It wasn't bad but it wasn't good either.
