“Great views on upper floors”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2012

Some views not perpendicular to the ocean. We read the reviews and got an ocena view with balcony onthe the 4th floor. 2 Q with 1/2 wall divider acting as small kitchen with microwave, coffe maker and refrig. from sitting area of sofa bed , coffee table small table and 2 1/2 circular comfy chairs with gas fireplace. We really enjoyed sitting and looking out over the ocean. Actually enjoyed looking at the cars driving around on the beach. Grasslands between hotel and ocean but nice dirt lane access to beach. No other hotels abutting th property so felt very spacious. Lovely room with double sink vanity outside bathroom and nice sized bathroom. Did not hear any neighbor noises. Elevators.
Breakfast with hard boiled eggs, biscuits and gravy, waffles and the rest of usual breakfast makings.
We didn't use the pool but seemed pretty small, and jaccuci.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Plentiful and easy parking,
Calm cleaning station in the parking lot so I guess good area for clamming.
Convention center and restaurants nearby. Other guests said teh restaurant in the hotel was very good.

Room Tip: Top floor with ocean view. I loved the fireplace too! The sitting area was especially nice.

We recently returned from a 2 night stay at the Best Western Plus in Ocean Shores. We reserved a room with 2 queen beds with a full ocean view. The rooms were comfortable and spacious. The beds were both comfortable. The room had a great panoramic view of the beach. The "kitchenette" included a small refrigerator, microwave oven, coffee maker and a separate sink. The room also has a sofa, which was quite uncomfortable, along with a small dining table and 2 chairs. There was also a small gas-powered fireplace in the room. Overall, the room was quite nice.

The things we did not like were that the elevator was extremely slow. Even when there was no else using it, it took an eternity to get from the the 4th floor (top level) to the main floor. Also, the small swimming pool in the lobby area was quite dirty. The water was very murky. Lastly, the area where the continental breakfast is located (off of the check-in counter on the main floor) was far too small. The first night we stayed, the hotel was completely full. The next morning, there wasn't even standing room available in the breakfast room. Plus, the garbage cans were all overflowing and most of the tables had excessive breakfast leftovers on them. It was really disgusting!

I would have given this hotel 4 stars if it the pool and breakfast area were cleaner.

Nice hotel all in all. Cool observation deck. Nice pool and Jacuzzi with good hours allowing adults only to swim from 10PM - Midnight. Great staff and very friendly girl setting up the breakfast. Good breakfast with waffles and even gravy. Biscuits might as well as been rocks though. Our only negative part of the trip would have to be "Waves" restaurant...although the staff were friendly, the food was sub par. Frozen french fries, prepared beef patties, just very cafeteria like food... not impressed at all. Next time would eat off site for sure. Don't waste your money at this restaurant unless you don't mind poor quality food. Good hotel all in all.

My wife and I love exploring different coastal areas on long weekends. We love the stormy roar of the ocean during the winter months. This weekend 2/18/12-2/20/12 was an open Razor Clam weekend. When we booked (back in Dec) there were plenty of rooms available, but it was full when we arrived. We had King Suite w/fireplace, balcony, and full ocean view. (Great price w/govt. rate).
The staff was friendly and helpful, rooms were clean, and for an older hotel it was well maintained. The pool was in constant use and surprisingly the place (hotel) was really quiet. Breakfast was nice and popular w/guests.
We have been to Ocean Shores in the past but it was 10-15 years ago. The place has GROWN! More places to eat, see, and shop. The complimentary shuttle to/from the casino (which is really close) was nice and appreciated.
The only negative experience was our visit to the on-site restaurant and lounge "The Waves". The food was OK, but the service there was horrendous! We didn't have a server; it seemed to be a "catch as you can" server as they went by....I think we had around three. Would not go there, or eat there again.

It's a just okay review! My latest stay in Ocean Shores was just okay! I have stayed here several times over the years and it is always just okay. You are stuck on the whims of the desk. The last three times I have been there they always try to stick me on the first floor down by the road. I always have to go back to the desk and ask for another room! They act like I kicked their dog, but they give me another room. The pool is kind of small and right at the desk so someone is always watching through the windows, it's kind of creepy. Something always seems to not be working. Mostly the wireless never works and the breakfast is all processed prepackaged foods, nothing fresh! I skip it!
Yeah it's a hotel on the beach and they do some things right, but it feels like they do it because they have to. It comes down to attitude! I have talked to the desk, but don't bother any more because of the reactions.
If you stay here! The beds are okay. The rooms are okay. The view is okay. The location is okay. It's just okay! I stay at a lot of BW's and this one is not up to par! It could be super nice with the right people in the right jobs. Where would I stay in Ocean Shores? I don't know! I may never be back to find out!

Room Tip: Upper floors (3 or 4) on the south end are good!

I stayed here with my wife and two kids (8 and 11), and we enjoyed the stay.
We did not see anything wrong. Our kids liked the indoor swimming pool. We had a dinner at the restaurant connected to the hotel, and the food was just fine.
Our room had a spectacular ocean view. We arrived at the hotel at 6:10pm and missed the sunset, but could see some remaining light over the ocean and it was beautiful.
Our room was clean and spacious enough for our family.
The breakfast was OK for me.
Overall, I liked this hotel and will be back again, if I have a chance.
