My Spousal Unit and I liked Galway Bay before we went to Ireland. We still like it after we returned, so that says a lot for the place's authenticity! The menu items, especially the chowders and stews, are very good eating after a cold day on the beach during winter or fall visits to Ocean Shores. Soda bread is delicious, though we never found anything like it anywhere in Ireland...who cares? The Irish music recordings are pretty standard stuff, but when live entertainers show up, the place really jumps! One of their regulars is a guy named Hank Cramer, who is an excellent singer and musician, and usually has a good ensemble of fellow Celtic performers jamming with him.
Service can be uneven at times, but they usually go above and beyond to make guests comfortable. Menu prices aren't cheap, but the homemade quality of everything they serve makes Galway Bay a decent value. I also like to visit the attached store chock full o' Irish goods and trinkets...the selection of good CDs is above-average, and if you are wanting a good wool flat-hat, there's sure to be one you'll like.
