“Eat Here Once A Year”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2012

This is a hard spot to overlook as it is on the main drag with max military memorabilia out front to attract the veterans. Anyone who served in the Cold War Era/Vietnam Era knows this food. I have a zippered chest as a result of a five by-pass to prove how much of this delicious, toxic food I had during my 26 year Navy career. I have not eaten this stuff in a long while and my wife encouraged me to come here as a lark knowing I no longer eat like this. I did it right and had the Navy special of biscuits and gravy, two over easy greasy eggs, kielbasa and a bowl of wonderfully oily grits. I will probably not eat like this again for the rest of my life, but enjoyed it one more time. To top it all off, we were seated close to the tv that had a "Judge Judy" type show on to finish off the morning of decadence.

“Semper Fi”

Quirky little restaurant with military service at its heart. Frank is a stitch! Food was good, service good and it was interesting to look at the military history hanging on the walls. Local hang-out for regulars.

“GREAT greasy spoon breakfast!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2012

I've been visiting Oak Harbor since I was a kid , and my hair is gray now. Tastier and more upscale breakfast places have existed in the past, but they've come and gone. Hopefully, "Frank's" will stay. Don't come for heart-healthy grub but if you want a BIG classic American breakfast (lunch, too) and you're not too finicky, this place has your name written on it (well, Frank's name, anyway). Frank is a cool Hawaiian guy who will chat you up if he's around. The service is adequate-to-good and if you're lucky, you might even get New York-style attitude if somebody's tired or in a bad mood. Kids love it because the walls are covered with military stuff, reflecting Frank's support for the local Navy base. Go here if you're the "flexible" type who has patience...you won't go away hungry and the kids will clamor to come back. It's the only restaurant I know of that features Spam specialties, reflecting Frank's Hawaiian roots, so you know this place is one-of-a-kind! Breakfast served all day.
