“Just what we needed.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2013

We booked one night at The Bluff on Whidbey for the end of a week+ of camping and backpacking throughout the area. We arrived tired, grimy, and in need of respite. That is exactly what we found.

We booked the smaller room - Linden - on the ground floor. Every tiny detail had been planned out by our hosts. The entire process, from reservation to departure, is handled so smoothly. I have not seen their level of organization and thorough planning anywhere.

The views of the water out the Linden room's expansive window were perfect. The room was squeaky clean, top to bottom, and the TV, plush robes, and soft sheets, were just what we needed. Larry and Kathy were also very accommodating with our morning plans, allowing us to elect breakfast at an earlier time to fit with our ferry reservations. Larry even gave us some helpful tips for catching the ferry! Much appreciated by out-of-towners. At breakfast, the coffee was perfect and the next day we were still talking about the locally grown strawberries.

I have already recommended The Bluff on Whidbey to a friend traveling to Whidbey Island next month.

Room Tip: The Linden room was the perfect size for us, but both rooms appeared very private and cozy.

My boyfriend and I visited The Bluff on Whidbey to run the Whidbey Half marathon. Larry and Kathy were amazing host! The first morning we were there breakfast was clearly made with experience and lots of love, Kathy was happy to meet special needs (I'm vegaterian, and someone else staying that weekend was gluten free). The morning of the race Kathy had tons of fruit and wholesome foods laid out for us and the other couple staying who was also running the race. It was such a comfortable stay, they were there for anything we needed, but not on top of us at all, we had plenty of space in beautiful accommodations with beautiful large windows, heated bathroom floor, a fireplace...and a ceiling fan! There was a great looking hot tub, but we didn't find the time to enjoy it. I love having a ceiling fan! On top of everything, Larry and Kathy are just really nice, friendly people; it felt like staying with old friends. Larry even dropped us off and picked us up from the marathon!! They were even nice enough to let us come back after the race, clean up and told us to take our time leaving...talk about going the extra mile!! This place should be booked soild year around; We are already planning to stay there next year for the 2014 marathon.

P.S. I'm really keen on how clean a place is....even the top of the door ledges were dustless! I'm couldn't find dust or cobwebs anywhere. I'd rate most places as satisfactory, but this place was excellent! They have all the details nailed down!

Room Tip: We stayed in the ground level suite, it was perfect!

Well, Dave,

thank you very much for that extremely nice review.... these reviews are an increasingly important way for travelers to pick and for hosts to acquire future guests, so such a note helps us greatly.

One of the best B&B choices in our travels coast to coast - Larry & Kathy provide top-notch service and comfort for their guests in a beautifully restored heritage home. The guest rooms are in a new addition with private entries, decks & an immaculate hot tub (robes provided). We enjoyed the fabulous spring bloom at the Tulip Festival in La Conner / Mt Vernon. This B&B is on nearby Whidbey Island away from the crowds. Such a wonderful getaway... we highly recommend this B&B.

Room Tip: The Lynden is at ground level with deck & hot tub outside the private entry.

My wife and I enjoyed a weekend getaway to Whidbey Island at our now favorite bed & breakfast. We stayed in the Cicero room and fell in love with the space and the view. It was completely quiet and private, had nice furniture and amenities, and our breakfast was always hot and delicious. We also enjoyed chatting with the owners whenever we ventured out of our room. The garden and grounds along the bluff are beautiful, and it was also fun to be followed around by the resident cat, Rocky.

My boyfriend booked a room at this B&B for the night of August 21, 2012. I knew we were staying somewhere that night but he did not tell me where or why. He proposed on the beach at Deception Pass and then we drove to the B&B for the night. It was the perfect place for a romantic getaway/evening. Larry and Kathy are wonderful B&B owners. They were kind and helpful. We enjoyed sitting in the chairs on the bluff and taking in the breathtaking views. We enjoyed a walk around the gardens, along with the incredibly charming cat, Rocky! We went into Anacortes for dinner, came back with wine and enjoy the evening in the hot tub.

We stayed in the Lynden Room (I believe the smaller of the 2 rooms). The bed was comfortable and the sheets divine. It was a lovely room.

They brought breakfast into us in the morning and we enjoyed it while taking in a few last looks at the beautiful yard/scenary. Breakfast was DELICIOUS and the coffee was perfect. We are still talking about the breakfast and hoping to attempt to recreate it!

This bed and breakfast is magnificent. I am from Washington State originally (Mount Vernon) but live in Kentucky now. My fiance and I both agree that we will plan to visit for a night every time we come to Washington.

Stay here, you will understand why!

Convenient to Rt 20, near Deception Pass and not to far from Whidbey Island Winery's (Green Bank Farm is great). Complimentary wi-fi. Very clean. Friendly owners with good local recommendations. The best part...the views from the bluff! I'd recommend to get a bottle of wine and sit on the hammock or chairs and watch the night fall over the waters and mountain views.

Pleasant surprise for a B&B. Were able to book the Lynden room (the other room was available too) just 10 days in advance. I think most of the B&B's near Coupeville get booked up pretty quickly, and months in advance, so our expectations were tempered by the availability. No worries though, as this was a beautiful location with grand views of Mt Baker, Hope Island, and the sound. Spent an hour on their hammock with my wife and their friendly cat and was very relaxed. Tasty breakfast, kind hosts.

Room Tip: Lynden is on the first floor with separate entrance and porch, adjacent to kitchen area. Cicero is...
