My husband and I have played Beacon Rock a few times now and find it laid back and enjoyable.
It's a PGA course, inexpensive and a very easy walk for anyone. It is really a nine hole course that you play twice but from different tee locations for the "back nine". There are no sand traps and one real water hazard so you can pretty much get yourself out of trouble (in the trees, for instance) pretty easily. There is a snack bar/restaurant on site and an additional rest room out on the course. Two minutes West of here is Beacon Rock (of Oregon Trail fame).
