“Just got back from three nights here...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2007

We stayed in the older cottage section. It was much more economical. They ran a 3 nights for the price of 2. We also had our two dogs. We were in cabin 9. It was fine. A bit worn but very comfortable and clean enough. Plenty of towels, clean sheets, hot water. We used the pool and hot tub. They are also nice. Lots of kids, but that's to be expected. Only problem was the stove. Two of the burners didn't work, but the oven and other two stove tops burners were fine. We cooked one night and ate out the other two. Doogers was good. The Lightship was so-so. The first day the weather was great and we saw both lighthouses at Cape Disappointment. The second day we went to the other side of the pennisula to see that side. A muddy trek but very picturesque. The beach was great for the dogs. However, by today it was very windy and the electricity went out overnight. But it is November. All and all a good stay. Next time I will splurge and go for one of the condos.

Comfortable, contemporary, very clean accommodation -- and the website allows you to see the interior and ocean view of every unit, so you know what you're getting when you reserve your room. These shingle-sided buildings are set at an angle to the coastline so each unit has an ocean view. The entire facility (with the exception of the strip of rather rundown cottages that must have been the 1940's manifestation of this enterprise) is well off the highway, so you're not going to hear any road noise, just the gentle roar of the ocean (or louder, if you decide to sleep with the bedroom window slightly ajar as we did). We reserved our unit rather last minute for the Cranberrian Festival so had to choose the "hindmost" unit on the top floor, but still had a lovely view from our living area, enjoying the coziness of the gas fireplace. The buildings are surrounded by lawn, with a few hundred feet of pristine sand dunes, with foot paths, between you and the gorgeous sandy beach. The pool/spa facility is attached to the office building, which is between the lodging units and the highway. Coffee packets were provided for the coffeemaker and you could order fresh-baked cranberry scones (extra cost, I think) by 7 p.m. for delivery the next morning, but we had already purchased some delicious Danish pastries from the bakery in Long Beach so passed on those. We will never stay anywhere else on the Long Beach Peninsula!!!!!

The oceanfront townhouses are well-equipped with all the comforts of home. Nothing fancy, but clean and spacious. Each unit has at least a partial view of the ocean with a deck or patio. The units nearest the beach have unobstructed views of the ocean. It is a short stroll to the beach through the dunes.

Lots of people and dogs here so don’t expect complete quiet. The noise is mostly unobtrusive but I did hear one unattended dog barking loudly in its unit (unattended animals are supposed to be crated and quiet).

One bedroom units: get a top floor unit, if possible. Avoid units nearest the parking lot (like 301/305) because there can be late night and early morning noise.

The pool is enclosed in glass so you can swim even when it is raining. The pool has a lap swim hour at the beginning of the day and an adults-only swim hour at the end of the day.

The resort is just a couple of miles from Long Beach, so you can easily drive in for restaurants and shopping. But the kitchen is adequately equipped for breakfast, lunch, and simple dinners.

Do not miss Cape Disappointment State Park – it is one of the most beautiful parks in the state. Great short hikes, North Head and Cape Disappointment Light houses, a beautiful beach, and a great visitor center with a movie about Lewis & Clark.

We recently had a mini reunion here with my husband's sister and his aunt. With a three bedroom condo for the four of us, this was an ideal setup giving us lots of room and also some privacy at night. Even though the weather was great we used the gas fireplace on a cool morning. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils/pans etc and we loved being able to do our own cooking. We picked up some fresh halibut and oysters at Jimella's (in Klipsan) which was delicious with the basil aioli we also picked up there. It's just about a hundred yard walk down a path through the sea grass to an amazing sandy beach. We enjoyed the beautiful sunsets from there. Being away from the crowds of the main village of Long Beach it was quiet and relaxing. We didn't use the pool, but it did look inviting. This is a great place for two or three couples sharing or a family group. Sharing the cost and doing your own cooking saves a LOT of $$$.

We held a family reunion at the resort - my husband and I spent a long weekend last year looking for a Washington coast site that could handle our group and were just about to head to Oregon when someone suggested we look at the Lighthouse Resort. We had dismissed it while driving by because they have several small 1950's vintage hotel rooms right by the highway which aren't very appealing. But when you drive past those units toward the ocean you see several modern buildings along the coast.

The location was great. You are far enough from the highway that you don't hear it - but you do hear the ocean. Our family rented a variety of unit sizes and all were similarly maintained and furnished.

Because the units were staggered in the buildings, all units had some view but the end units had the best views - and you reserve specific units (e.g. not just an ocean view unit , but #606, for example.)

As others stated, you can bring pets (for an additional fee) and many guests do. All the dogs I saw on the property were on leashes and I didn't see evidence of anyone not picking up after their pet. But if you are allergic to dogs, this might not be a good place for you.

There is a nice indoor pool and exercise area near the office as well as two gas BBQ's for guests to use and a meeting room you can rent.

We stayed 4 nights and there was no housekeeping service. If you want fresh towels, you must request them.

The main thing that we wished the resort had was window screens on all windows and the sliding glass doors (some units had screens on the sliding doors and some didn't.)

All in all, it was a wonderful location and everyone enjoyed being at the ocean. We would stay here again.

I must say, my wife and I didn't know what to expect. After driving through Long Beach, it was wonderful to be at a location set by itself. The view overlooking the sea grasses to the waters edge was breathtaking. We would make coffee in the room in the morn. and take the short walk to the water and just totally chill. At low tide sand dollars are to be found slightly south of the property at the waters egde. There are alot of people with pets, actually we might have been the only ones without, but it was never an issue. All was extremely clean and quiet. Don't miss the Depot for dinner. Possibly the best food I have ever had. Also, Dooger's for lunch is a must. Too, you have to experience driving on the beach. There are different access points and you can drive for miles, get off, and drive into town. Really alot of fun. After looking at the other properties, The Lighthouse is without a doubt the best.

This resort is north of the town of Long Beach, Wa - a quaint little beach town with lots of summer activities. The resort has staggered the rooms so that each room can see the ocean. Just dunes and dune grass separate you from the ocean. Larger rooms are townhouse style with 1 bedroom upstairs and 2 downstairs. The smaller rooms are on 1 floor, either upper or lower. Dogs are welcomed as long as the owners clean up after them. When we were there, a brand new indoor pool and spa were being constructed. Can't wait to go back next year!!
