“Don't judge a book by it's cover!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013

Wow!!! I wonder how many people have driven by Hay J's Bistro just thinking how good could a place in a strip mall be? (But c'mon the parking lot is always packed!)

First off, the service is fabulous. Not snobby even though this place is absolutely to-die-for.

The food is divine. It's hard to decide what to have because everything sounds amazing and what you see being delivered to the tables around you looks fabulous.

Go see what you've been missing. You'll be a huge fan - like me. :)

“What a find. Don't let the location next to gas station fool you.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013 via mobile

Stopped to get gas and noticed Hay J Bistro. Thought it was an odd location but I started watching the locals go in and out. It was a rainy day and cool. The tomato bisque soup pulled me in. It was wonderful. One of the best tomato bisque soups I have ever had. All the other entrees I saw came put looked amazing and the service was outstanding. If you are driving 90 get off at Liberty Lake exit and stop in. It is well worth the stop.

“Excellent Bistro-don't be fooled by gas station next door”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2013

A very non descript place outside, but warm and friendly inside. They have a small bar that seats 6. Our waiter was very friendly and checked on us throughout the meal. The Ladieu salad was wonderful start to our meal. My wife ordered the Filet, I had the Ahi tuna. Both were perfectly cooked with excellent sides of potatoes, rice, asparagus. A slice of lemon cake finished off the meal. With 2 glasses of wine, tax, and tip, came to $110. Very well worth it. Highly recommend this classy, quaint resaurant.

“Weird area, great place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

First of all don't be turned away by the fact this place is next to a gas station. Because once you step in the door you feel like you could be in a big city eatery and the food will confirm that feeling for you as well. I vastly enjoyed the Beef Medallions for dinner and the were amazing. The wine demi-sauce on them was some of the best I have ever had. It was finished with some amazing Gorgonzola cheese, yukon gold mashed potatoes (so buttery it didn't need salt), and some greatly seasoned asparagus. If you are in the area take it from a chef, this place is worth the drive from Spokane and Coeur d'Alene just to have a great meal. This is a mom and pop gone fancy and amazing!!!

“Unassuming Location, Craveable Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

Don't let first impressions fool you. This little bistro is located next to a gas station just off the Liberty Lake freeway ramp next to the Best Western/Peppertree Inn. The location is unassuming and a bit deceptive, but step inside and you'll find a classy restaurant with professional staff and outstanding food. I live in the area and usually get takeout a couple times a month. The parmesan crusted halibut is one of my favorites and the huckleberry chicken wrap is downright craveable. I only give a restaurant my highest rating if I've found myself daydreaming about their food in between visits, and Hay J's Bistro qualifies. I would, however, recommend going during their lunch hour, not during dinner. The prices are lower at lunch, but the portions will still fill you up, and you have the option of ordering one of their excellent wraps or sandwiches. Hold off for a special occasion to splurge on the dinner time prices/menu.
