My sister drove from Seattle, I drove from Spokane area, about halfway for both. I called for last minute lodgings, and booked a condo at $359.00 per night. Pricey, yes. Nice, Yes. We stayed over the weekend that the Autumn Leaf Festival was happening-lucky us! Leavenworth puts on the show for events, and we were not disappointed.
The condo was upscale, furnished very comfortably, clean and we had lots of room to move around! Everything was newly furnished, the guest book indicated we were about the 4th or 5th guests since opening it up for public use. Dishes, silver, coffee maker and most important, the wine bottle opener all furnished. Pub style dining table, complete with placemats and cloth napkins, hideaway bed type couch .Automatic icemaker, dark granite counter tops, nice ambiance lighting. Rock fronted fireplaces in both bedrooms, granite vanity tops, VERY comfortable plush beds & bedding. Master bedroom has jaccuzzi tub, nice personal amenities, but they forgot the shampoo & conditioner-but did have nice lavender vanilla soap. Two decks, one from living/dining area, one from master bedroom. Both had seating outside with views of pool area. I did not find a place to store skis, that might be a problem in winter, and there was no washer or dryer. Two pools, one with hot tub, a nice game room with alot of video games & sit down race car types, pool table, air hockey, etc. A regular movie theatre on site as well, not huge, just right showing first run movies, complete with snack bar.
These are privately owned condos and the one downstairs from ours was having an open house. Basics were the same-carpet, fireplace, lighting fixtures, counter tops, ect., and the asking price on that one was $450,000, unfurnished. A bit overpriced, but, hey, if you rent them out for $359.00 per night, it wouldn't take long to recoup your investment. But laundry is an issue, as well as storage for gear outside.
It was a really relaxing, nice place to stay, and splitting it amongst say, 5 or six people would make it quite inexpensive for the weekend or week. A trolley ran every half hour or so the few blocks into town. It's located on property just behind the Best Western Icicle Inn on the west end of Leavenworth. While there, go visit Cheesemongers for the applewood smoked gouda, hit Safeway for a bottle of Kendall Jackson Cabernet, light the fireplace and enjoy!
