“Truly Authentic, Fresh, Delicious Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2013

The sauces had the subtle flavors of the best restaurants in Germany and Austria. Compared to the out-of-the-can brown gravy glop that we had the night before at another restaurant in Leavenworth, my Jaeger sauce at King Ludwig's was fresh and delicious. The Rotkohl was spiced to perfection, and had just the right amount of residual acid. The Kartoffelsalat did not have the usual excessive dill that American cooks tend to use and was very authentic German cooking. The beer was a bit stale (which is unavoidable with imported beer). The hot Strudel was light, did not drip all over the place as most American imitations of Strudel tend to do, and the crust was not greasy. The service was very attentive. The decor was very, very genuine German-casual-dining, but that means that it looks more like an overlit, plain-vanilla British Railway cafeteria than a Bavarian Bierkeller.

“Best German Restaurnet in Leavenworth!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2013

I've been to King Ludwig's a number of times and wish I could give you a fav menu item, but I love them all!! I can't get enough of the jagersnitzel and sometimes I've come in just to order the authentic spatzel and red cabbage. My husband drools over the schwinhoaxin (spelling?) The staff is great, very funny and hard working. Music you say? They have it live most nights I've been through. The polka band is the best and strolling accordian player makes you feel like your in Bavaria!

“It was Ok...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2013

Was looking forward to have a nice lunch of Rouladen so after reviewing German restaurants on tripadvisor and reviewing menus, found only two places that served Rouladen. Upon entering establishment, it was quaint but did not have German flair. Waitress was nice but it felt like she was trying to act more in a role. Found out that the dishes are actually more Hungarian than German so that was disappointing. Beef was not as tender as it should have been and difficult to cut (I pretty much wore half of it at one point trying to cut it). Would most likely not visit there again.
