“Beautiful Scenery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

Loved the beautiful scenery and easy drive on Icicle Gorge. Well worth taking the time to explore areas other than downtown Leavenworth.

“Stunning!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

So beautiful...parking is really hard to find so go early and enjoy the refreshing air! Rocks can be slippery so wear good hiking shoes or boots. Really stunning scenery!

“Read this important tip! Pros and Cons”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2013

IMPORTANT TIP! Do not use the instant directions through this site. When we tapped on the directions from here for some reason we were sent miles in the wrong direction to a site north of Wenatchee Lake. This trailhead is off the Icicle Creek road which is the first left outside of Leavenworth. Any directions taking you down Highway 2 are wrong. Use a real map or you can find detailed direction through the partner site many trails.
Pros – A nice easy stretch of the legs in a beautiful part of the world. There is plenty of shade and this is really not so much a hike as it is a walk so it is suitable for everyone and is a great way to introduce some of the younger ones to the joys of just walking in the woods. It is easy to get to from Leavenworth (once you get the proper directions) and the trail was not crowded. Parking was ample and it is well maintained. Plenty of both sun and shade and even a few bench thrown in for those times and spots to reflect or have a snack.
Cons – The “wow” factor is the east (to the left as you are heading out of the parking lot) bridge over the gorge and it a pretty short walk from the trailhead. This is a bit of a con because I find it a little more enticing to have the “wow” factor a little more towards the middle of the hike. The loop also follows the road often and, while here are few cars on the road, if one were to come by you may get a little dusted. There is a fair amount of non-paved road which is not really a con as much as it is a “be aware” and if you don’t like rock chips in your car stay far behind the car in front. The trial is well marked though there were a few times we were left wondering which trail led us back to the parking lot we came from.
Bottom line – This is a very nice way to spend a few hours in the woods and it does have some “wow” to it. Not challenging, good for families so grab some picnic and head to the woods.

“Lovely trail”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013

This is a lovely trail just outside Leavenworth. Be warned that the road out to the Gorge trail does go from paved to unpaved and is very rough and bumpy! but it's worth it for the walk that takes you up one side of the river, crosses over and down the other side.
