Kingfisher Dining Room is in a building with the feel of a national park lodge. The views through all the huge windows are ethereal. As a guest in mid-September, I dined here for two dinners and two breakfasts and had consistently good food and good service. All of our servers were friendly, helpful and eager to please.
You may serve yourself from the extensive "starters and salad" bar which allows you to go at your own pace. The choices are unique, beautifully prepared and attractively presented. The hot items are plated by the chef himself so you carry away a beautiful plate with a restaurant presentation instead of an unappetizing pile of random food. Changing daily, there is a meat choice, a fish choice, and a vegetarian option. You may have all three choices and may return again and again. The dessert offerings are equally remarkable, many of which are served in mini sizes. At every meal, plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables are offered, much from this establishment's own garden. Most of the food is local and organic.
Meals are prix fixe. Dinner is around $39 and considering that you can have as much food as you want, and that dessert and coffee are included, you would be hard put to do as well at another restaurant of this caliber. At $20, which included coffee and juices -- including fresh organic carrot juice -- I thought that the breakfast was an exceptionally good value and made a "note to self" to stop here for breakfast even when I am not a guest at this property.
Dining here is intended to be relaxed, gracious, and an elegant part of a woodsy Western experience, The food is top quality and the preparation is gourmet. From my own point of view, this was a first rate experience which I intend to repeat..
