“A Fantastic Place (that needs a little tweak or two)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2013

This is a very special place. We visited while the snow was lightly falling, a week before Christmas, and it was quite magical. The room--a loft room--was outstanding. The ambience of the place is impressive. Take time to walk the grounds and see this very special place. Our visit did generate two complaints from us: 1) We had to wait quite a long time to check in as one person was trying to work the phones, serve as concierge and check in guests and we kept getting preempted. This did not seem appropriate, especially for a resort of this quality; 2) The drain in our tub refused to drain properly in spite of considerable fiddling on our part. Tweak these items and our stay would have been fabulous.

Green Features: Sometimes environmentally-friendly practices can come across as thinly-disguised budget-saving strategies. Not here. It's deeper, more missional. Very impressive. Inspirational even.

Thank you so much for your comments. We so appreciate hearing what went right and also the areas that need attention. I so regret that you didn't get the full attention that you deserve during the time you checked in. I have spoken to the guest service manager so we can understand how that happened and ensure it doesn't happen again. Our maintenance and housekeeping department will be checking the drains as well.

Again, thank you for taking the time to let us know about your stay. We are looking forward to the opportunity to serve you again!

I had planned for our family to stay at the Best Western - and eat downtown. But decided to splurge and made reservations for Sleeping Lady Resort. We had the loft room which was perfect for grandma in one bed, me in one, and 12 year old daughter in the loft bedroom to herself.
One thing that amazed us was how everyone walking along the grounds - guests - were so relaxed and friendly. When we arrived a couple met us in the parking lot and shared their experiences and all other guests would stop and say hi or have a great day.

We hiked all the knoll, strolled the grounds following the art walk, had lunch and snacks at O'Grady's Pantry, visited the slumbering organic gardens, took so many pictures, had wine and visited with other travelers in the Grotto, did yoga, and watched the family movie.
For our family ages 12 through 72 there was something for each one of us.
The food in the restaurant was extraordinary and the staff beyond professional. We are planning on returning for my daughter's 13th birthday for a very special celebration.

Special thanks to Kimberly at the front desk who went above and beyond for us on Saturday.

Room Tip: I think all the rooms would be as exceptional as ours. If traveling with younger kids try to maybe...

Green Features: I read all the literature regarding their sustainability efforts. This is one of the specific reasons that I wanted to go to Sleeping Lady. Amazing what can be done to be environmentally friendly and still provide a standard that is so high.

A good location for families and couples. Although pricey yet with all the amenities it becomes worth it. Fabulous buffet food that is local and sustainable. Excellent library cabin and great playhouse with stage and costumes for the kids or the kid in you. At night enjoy the Grotto Bar Cabin and/or the outdoor hot pool. Lots of area hikes. My only caveat is the cabins are a bit small for more than 3 people. Very small loft area with double bed.
Nice gift shop and cafe worth a look near the parking lot.

Room Tip: In winter leave the window open in the loft. It can get super hot up there.

Green Features: More green than most, they have a commitment to the environment. Even their bookmarks can be planted and come up as wildflowers.

We wanted something different this time instead of being in a hotel and we got what we asked for. It was really a pleasant surprise. A bunch of cute little cabins, a fun pool looks more like a swimming hole, a nice restaurant, all sat in nature. What a nice retreat! My 6 yr old had so much fun - and thanks for not putting a TV in our cabin. The workers were friendly and helpful. Not sure about that fake German town close by. Anyhow, it was pricy but it was more fun for my daughter than a fancy hotel. Get the dinner package; we paid a lot more to eat in the restaurant but highly recommend. Just don't expect cruise ship like buffet-- just good veggie grown in its garden and local produce.

We visited Sleeping Lady this past weekend as our "babymoon" for our 2nd child. I wanted a weekend getaway with the hubs to relax & reconnect before our next baby.

We stayed in an Alcove room, which was comfortable and well appointed. The room was very clean, the standards for what we'd need for an overnight stay were provided (an abundance of towels, shampoo/cond/body wash, coffee maker with teas, luxurious robes). The rooms even have towel/robe warmers. Every product they use has been chosen with sustainability in mind.

We had dinner and breakfast at KingFisher, which is by far the best 2 meals I have EVER had. It is buffet style, but again everything is hand picked to be of the highest quality. All locally sourced, most of everything is organic, and not your typical fare. For dinner we had halibut and beef loin. Their salad bar is delicious, again nothing ordinary. The dressings were house made, tons of delicious marinated veggies and other toppings. A fig salad was available - who does that?? So good!

I also had the Earth Mother Pregnancy Massage at their onsite spa. Again, also very good. They used essential oils that are safe for pregnancy and listened carefully to what I was looking for and what my comfort level was with how I can lay.

Room Tip: The Alcove Room was quite nice, spacious enough for a couple for the weekend. It also features a twi...

I've been coming to the Sleeping Lady for business and pleasure for almost 5 years. For me this place is the ideal mountain retreat. The rooms are spacious, and the decor is beautiful and blend really well with the mountains and the nature around the complex. Very clean! The resort has one restaurant that in general offers very good food. One winter, we went for a New Years Eve Activity that the resort was hosting and the food was just spectacular. My experience with the staff is very positive. They are helpful and very attentive to the needs of the guests. In terms of value, I think it is on the high side, but to me, it is worth it.

My son and I stayed here before and after a day hike up to the enchantments. It was quiet, clean and beautiful. Nice to have a soak in the hot tub and massage the next day to help relieve sore muscles. We also appreciated that we could ask them to make us a sack lunch for the hike. O'Grady's Pantry and Mercantile is new since I was there last and was a nice alternative for breakfast and lunch.

Green Features: This is a priority and one of the things I like about this place, from the large organic garden on site that supplies the kitchen, to the construction, to recycling and composting.
