“Excellent food in Kirkland”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2014 credit card Amex Card Member Review

This was our first visit and we were pleasantly surprised with the food quality and the friendly service. Lighting and noise were more than adequate. In fact we loved it so much we went back the following day for Happy Hour. Again, it was very good and quality/price rapport was outstanding.

“Rough start...but getting better.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

Our first visits when they first opened were a little bit spotty. Some great dishes, some not. Last time we were in, recently, for was excellent. Friend have also commented on how much the quality has improved and now mirrors their other flagship restaurant.

It's just a little bit too gourmet for me. Sometimes I just want some basic pasta with meatballs or sausage.

Worth a trip.

“Good food!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2014

Went for dinner during Seattle Restaurant week. The tomato soup is very delicious! The lamb I had was tender and flavorful, yet a little on the salty side. It also came in a good portion. Dessert was delightful. Overall, very good food there.

“Go for the food, not the ambiance”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2014

We took advantage of the Dine Around Seattle offer of three courses for $30 and were impressed by the outstanding selections and generous portions. (We've had experiences at other restaurants where portions were meager and choices very limited for the Dine Around special.) We started with the bread salad, nicely seasoned and dressed with an excellent olive oil. For our entrees we had the tender and flavorful lamb osso buco, and the wild boar, with rosy pink slices sitting atop a delectable sauce. We asked our server for a wine recommendation, and his choice was spot-on, adding to our enjoyment of the meal. It was hard to choose, but for dessert we went with the chocolate hazlenut torte and the lemon tart with blueberries--both winners. Like so many restaurants these days, Volterra has a somewhat "industrial" decor--open pipes, concrete floors, etc., and the tables are close together, so you can't help but hear the conversations around you. This is not the place to go for an intimate tete-a-tete. But the food is top-notch, making Volterra well worth a repeat visit.
