We first visited one of these in FL a couple of years back and really enjoyed the sandwiches we got. We were pleasantly surprised for find one in the NW and HAD to see if it was still good. IT IS!!
We have been several times and always get the hot subs. Their version of the Philly Cheese is EXCELLENT! Lots of meat, lots of cheese and just the right amount of onions and peppers.
Since the decorations have somewhat of a surfer theme going on we weren't surprised by seeing a Big Kahuna on the menu and tried it. It was love at first bite! it is basically a Philly Cheese with added mushrooms, jalapenos and extra cheese. Not a traditional Philly, but great!
Our last two visits we keep telling ourselves we have to try one of the cold subs but that Kahuna starts calling our names as soon as we walk through the door. But each time we would watch as they piled the stuff high. They have a glass deli case where they keep the meats and cheeses so you can see that they start with quality stuff. Their is excellent and they did tempt me a couple of times with tastes but I am a weak weak person and still ordered my Big Kahuna.
The staff is friendly and helpful if you have questions. The place is fairly small but has enough seating to handle their lunch rush since a bunch of their customers are the local businesses that take stuff back to the office. It is decorated in east coast surfer with simple polished concrete floor. They could spend a little more time dusting as we saw a cob web on one of the windows up high and it was still there a week later when we came back. But they do a pretty good job of keeping the tables cleared as the customers leave.
Business if pretty competitive within a three block radius as there are a TON of pretty good to excellent restaurants. Overall an excellent place to stop for lunch.
