“Great place to stop!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2008

We were headed back from Vancouver and wanted to stay north of Seattle. We called ahead and spoke to a nice young woman who gave us the AAA rate. Our room was huge! There was 4 of us with 2 double beds, but the square footage of the room must have been at least 800. It was very clean as well. There was a flat screen which was very large (36"?). We were so impressed.
The breakfast in the morning was hot, not just a continental. There were waffles, potatoes, ham, bacon, eggs, bagels, cereal, etc. It was a great stop for the night and as our first time staying at a Hawthorn Suites, we were so pleased!

The room itself was very nice. We had a jacuzzi suite on the ground floor. The location is not that convienent to SeaTac but they do have a shuttle. Shuttle service was helpful in getting us to the mall. Breakfast buffet was nice, limited selection. The pool was just O.K. and the buildings were being renovated during our stay.

The reason for the rating is that we had an item stolen from our room. Management was nonresponsive to our requests to find the item. Other than that, our guests enjoyed their stay.

The property itself is in an odd spot. Nothing really within walking distance other than the Wendy's/gas station next door. With the apartment living style approach i never really felt safe. Random pedestrians every time i came/went, cars vandalized while i was there.

Normally stay at the Best Western (a mile away from here) and wished i had this time. Staff was nice enough, but the realization that at 7AM the lobby door was locked that maybe i'd wandered to the wrong side of the tracks. The room itself had been beat up over the years, but had only been superficially fixed. Patched drywall in all sorts of ODD areas in the suite.

  • Liked — Well cleaned every day.
  • Disliked — Internet was slow, property felt unsafe.

redeemed 3000 hyatt gold passport points for one night free stay in studio

typical hawthorn suites experience but be aware that this is like an apartment complex where each suite has own door opening to outside

  • Liked — spacious apartments with fully equipped kitchen
  • Disliked — location is way off from downtown seattle

This place has suffered many years of neglect and abuse without seeing enough investment. To the south is a paper products shipping depot with loading docks on both the north side and south sides of their building. They choose not to use the south side loading docks but instead use the north side facing the hotel. The result is if you're staying on that side of the hotel, you'll hear every hiss of the air brakes and every air horn that blows well into the night and starting as early as 4am through the miserably thin windows. The walls and floors are very thin as well and the spacious rooms are often accommodated by families whose kids will likely keep you on edge as they bounce off the walls day and night. Hope you don't live above someone who chooses to use their fireplace, we did and their smoke actually set off our smoke alarm twice as we gagged and wheezed. The staff is completely self centered and rude with only one or two exceptions; don't bother to complain about noise, they're as likely to throw you out as listen and do nothing. You've been warned, if you like a nice quiet business-friendly atmosphere where you can get work done, or if you need a place to sleep during the day because you work at night, don't stay here.

We recently stayed here with our children and two small grandchildren. We had a two level townhouse and the space available was good. Nicely equipped kitchen and bathrooms. Carpet and bed coverings showing signs of wear and the furniture really needed a good cleaning. Was quiet however the guy downstairs called and complained we were too noisy. The floors creak even with soft walking. The babies could not help falling on their behinds. We are very early risers and they were not! Breakast buffet was perfect for those on the go and families. Check in and staff was very nice and did a good job. Great place for families.
