Let me start by saying that I am a Hilton Diamond VIP HHonors member, so I think I'm qualified to comment on a Hilton-family property. The only words that come to mind in describing this poor-excuse for a motel are "shabby", "inept", and "guest-unfriendly".
The actual proeprty is a standard multi-story Hilton Garden Inn located just off a main street (plenty of shopping and restauarnts nearby) and directly across the street from the "Toyota Arena". Lobby and other common areas are in pretty good shape. The motel does have a small business center with two inter-net capable PC's.
My problems with this property center on (a) desk staff and (b) rooms.
I have never, in all my 18 years as an HHonors member, ever encountered such inept, arrogant, indifferent desk staff who are uniformly indifferent to guests. In each of my last (and ONLY) three stays at this property, the motel had either "lost", "eliminated from there reservation system, or mismanaged my confirmed reservation; whether with respect to agreed-to rate, type or location of room, type of bedding, or my requests for non-smoking rooms, these people just don't seem to be able to "get it". Each time I would bring issues to the attention of desk staff (keeping in mind that I didn't want - and couldn't have cared less about - getting the room "comped". . .I only wanted the problem fixed) the only response I ever got was the "deer-in-the-headlights" look and a mumbled explanation that there is/was nothing they could do.
The rooms themselves are equipped as all Hilton garden Inns: a fairly comfortable matress, microfridge, microwave, coffee maker, small screen TV with remote. All of these things Hilton Garden Inns do well and represent reasons I stay at these properties when I can.
The rooms at this property, however, at least on the three occasions I stayed there, each had what I can only descrbe as a "dusty" or extremely "musty" odor and environment.
For those of you who are loyal Hilton frequest guests and/or HHonors members, there is another Hilton proeprty located nearby, a Hampton Inn. It's an older property, but it's located right on the river and is an OK alternative to the Garden Inn.
In a telephone conversation with the property's still "new" general manager, I made it clear that I would not and will never stay at this Hilton Garden Inn again. Period.
