My mom and I had an overnight shopping trip to Kennewick/Richland Washington (the area she grew up). We stayed at the Comfort Inn in Kennewick, Washington which is located on Quinault Avenue. Quinault intersects with Columbia Center Blvd and the motel is only a block or so (a long city block) from the Columbia Center Mall.
I'm not sure when it was built but it appears to be reasonably new and is nestled between two other motels on the same side street (Quality Inn and Fairfield Marriott...which all look to be very similar).
The cost for a spacious double queen room with tax was around $94 total. They have an indoor pool and a continental breakfast room (with sadly, little to no protein options). The side street was quiet, and for the most part the motel was quiet. You can even see the room we stayed in from this picture. Look over the covered entrance to the office..there are two windows...ours was the one to the left sort of overlooking the roof to the entrance and the parking lot.
The grounds are well groomed and everything was very clean. We didn't partake of the continental breakfast since we wanted a bite of protein to boost our energy. We didn't swim or really do much else besides shower and sleep. Our room had an adjoining door to the room next to us, and when we arrived it wasn't locked from our side so we locked it. Later we heard somebody trying to open it from the other side (I'm going to give them the benefit and say they wondered where it went). Always a good idea to check those doors! They got a wake-up call that must have been around 2 or 3 a.m. and they were not a bit quiet in their rising and leaving preparations...using their stadium voices in the room and in the hallways. I always wonder why people don't remember that there are hundreds of people around them SLEEPING...or trying to.
It is summer and hot in the Tri Cities. It was a challenge to get the room temp balanced. It seemed like it was smoldering or cold and it has one of those super noisy blower units under the windows...the type that seems to blow more air under the curtains then into the room. I would have opened the windows but Mom was sure we would be murdered if we did that.
The room was spacious with wider than average space between the two beds. It was clean and like I said, quiet except for our neighbors. The tub had a wonky floor to it so every time you shifted your weight in it it made loud creaking noises which I'm sure the people below us appreciated to no end.
I'm sure we would consider staying here again. Our first experience was positive. Clean, updated/newish and the price was affordable. VERY close to shopping, some medical facilities, restaurants etc. I see some of the reviews that point to dirty rooms and I can't explain the difference in experience. I'll update if we have a poor experience in the future, but this one met our standards and Mom and I are pretty darn tidy.
We always prefer upstairs in most any motel so we don't have to hear people walking above us (we...
