“Nicest Super 8”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

This Super 8 was well kept, clean and great value. The breakfast included waffles, hard cooked eggs & the usual breads, cereals & fruit. The pool & spa were maintained well. This seemed like a hotel for families and felt safe and welcoming. I would definitely stay there again. If you have pets, there is grass for them at the hotel and room to run nearby.

Booked our 3 day visit here based on several positive reviews. Was not disappointed. Upstairs room was very clean, quiet and comfortable. Convenient location close to freeway. WiFi worked well. Pool looked inviting although we didn't try it. Breakfast was good - basic, but maybe a little better than most places in this price range. We were amused at a review that blasted this property for having such drab decor. Just remember - this is a basic motel - not the Ritz-Carlton. We thought this property was a cut above most other Super 8's, and appears to be kept up well. The staff we had contact with were all friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: We asked for a quiet room. Was given 330 - upstairs near the end of he hall. No problems.

We recently stayed here for one night when visiting the Portland/ Washington area. At first glance the hotel looks very basic from the outside, it doesn't get any better when you get inside.
The front lobby looks as though it hasn't been updated since the 80's. The room was very dark, tired looking at not very clean. The walls were very thin as well and we could hear our neighbours, a family from the South of the US, very clearly.
We were on the floor and there were bikers revving their bikes right outside our window late at night which was very annoying.
There was a woman in a dressing gown walking up and down the hallways with a dog during the day, this kind of sums up the whole experience.
Breakfast is complimentary but was awful, we left having had nothing.
Overall, don't stay here, try somewhere else!

We recently spent three days in the Super 8 in Kelso. On arrival and through out our stay we found the hotel staff to be very helpful and knowledgable about the hotel and the surrounding area. The breakfast was adequate and plentiful. The room was clean and quiet. The hotel was very quiet with no noise to disturb our nights. Very good value. We would stay again and certainly recommend this Super 8.

Room Tip: We stayed in a room facing the high school

The Super 8 Kelso delivered as usual, with a clean, comfortable and safe room. The only minor glitch was their WIFI wasn't working when we first arrived, but later that afternoon it was.

As for the indoor pool and hot tub, it is larger than most, and fun to relax in after a day on the road. And their free breakfast is better than average, with fresh waffles, fruit and other scrumptious stuff.

You will also find plenty of restaurants and fast food options around the hotel as well, including a well managed Denny's across the parking lot from the Super 8.

In short, the Super 8 Kelso/Longview delivers on all levels. But ask for a room facing away from the highway, as they are whisper quiet and look out on the park and sports fields, which is nice.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the 3rd floor, facing the park and sport fields in back, as they are exceedingly q...

Our stay at the Super 8 was fine. The check-in was quick and smooth, the room was clean, and the room had a Television, Microwave, and Refrigerator. It looks like so many other hotels/motels that I stay in. It was comfortable enough, but dang it was boring. Not boring in the sense of "There's nothing to do mom," but boring in that there is nothing to do PERIOD. The hotel advertises the main local attraction as being the local high school and its accompanying sports field. Really? That's it? Well they also list the Annual Highlander Festival that consists of Picnics and Bagpipes. I kid you not. I have already pre-ordered my tickets for that fabulous event. But it really isn't the hotel's fault. It is lives in Kelso. The Super 8 is like Tofu picking up the flavors of the town, and it got less tasty because of it. Kelso reminds me of the Joe Walsh song; My friends are all boring, and so am I. We are just ordinary, average guys.

That night in Kelso was the longest week of my life. And I was staying at TripAdvisor's highest rated place; the Super 8. (That was not a typo.) While that may be odd enough by itself, Shari's is also the highest rated Restaurant. We looked hard around town for a place to take our 5 year old daughter to do something fun. It was the impossible trek. The only "Thing to Do" according to TripAdvisor is the Cowlitz County Historical Museum, but it turned out to be more of a photo library than a museum. I know museums are boring, but a historical museum in Kelso is ridiculous. The entire county had 12,000 residents less than a 100 years ago. Boring....

I really didn't mean to focus so much on the town, but it and the hotel seem to have a symbiotic relationship. The Super 8 blends into this gray canvas of Kelso. The largest employer in town is the Kelso School District. There is no fun. There is no joy. It's Kelso.

Do what you can to make it to Centralia for the night (if you are going north) or Vancouver (if you are going south.) Keep moving. There is nothing to see here. But if you do have to stay, the Super 8 will do. Just bring some board games.

Room Tip: Find one in Vancouver or Centralia. If you must stay here, get a 3rd floor room. Not only is it q...

We stayed three nights in this Super 8 because we were spending 2 full days at Mount St Helens. The hotel was quiet, clean and well priced. The front desk service was excellent, the breakfast was great, the pool was clean, the laundry facilities were perfect... All in all a fantastic place to stay. The location is just off the interstate 5 but it is behind a grove of trees so the room was very quiet. The air conditioner worked very well which was a big relief in the 35 degree Celsius heat! If we ever return to Mount St Helens or if friends travel to Kelso, we will recommend this Super 8.
